I go to a heart specialist Dr. Jakubowski . During COVID-19 my heart decided to have more hiccups than usual. I was referred as an emergency patient to Dr Kopak for a pace maker who gave me an appointment in 3 weeks. I was already in tears trying to up and down stairs but said nothing. A couple days later he called to say there was a cancellation in a couple of days. What a relief. As I could not meet anyone prior to surgery I was impressed with all the staff at Richmond Hospital and with Dr Kopaks skill as a surgeon. I have been healing slowly and all seems fine and I feel so much better. Only hope I grow some hair back. Went for my after surgery checkup today but forgot to say thank you so to you and all the staff involved a big THANK YOU.

Make sure you tread the eggshells carefully around office manager, Ruth. We drove 3 hours and stayed in a hotel. I phoned to make sure my time was correct of 10 the next morning. The young lady said I was "just follow up" so she made me tentative and re booked me for November because "that's what we do here". Every time I said I was here for my appointment, she said, "That's what we do here." Ruth called the next day, abrupt and loud, blaming my doctor for my referral that came 2 days ago (not fast enough for her). I wasn't notified of cancellation and I did know my doctor sent a referral. Ruth called the next morning and wanted me in later that day, but that meant I would have to wait in the hot car for 3 hours after hotel check out. I hadn't slept well due to frustration and I have Congestive Heart Failure plus hip pain. And there is a pandemic: I wouldn't wait in a restaurant. I told her I wouldn't be in any shape to see the doctor that afternoon. She snapped, "Why come here if you can't see the doctor?" Ruth talked loudly over me, demanding I listen to her explain her office system and blamed my family doctor for not being fast enough with a referral. I felt hollowed out by her rapid fire criticism. We checked out of the hotel and drove home. My concern was that Ruth might do this to me again: I have to find a new Vascular Surgeon. Sad, I respect Dr Kopac and I have new diagnoses and I need him. Make sure your family doctor gets your referral in on Ruth's terms. She'll be just fine if you and your doctor behave according to her strict boundaries. BTW, there was a tall blonde staff last time I was there who was very kind and supportive. I don't know her name.

Just cannot believe all the other reviews of this doctor... what a ...... all I can say.. His bedside manner is terrible and the way he treats nurses and support staff is unbelievable. Karma Dr Kopac Karma.. His follow up with me after surgery this year was terrible and made no time to explain things or follow up if I had problems.

Emergency surgery a year ago for Aneurysm. His confidence made me feel at ease, and the support staff for follow up visits are fantastic.

very pleasant and hands on! Some years ago I had a colonoscopy done at the same hospitalby another doctor with bad bedside manners . My next colonoscopy will be done by Dr.Kopac for sure.

Dr. Kopac did my wife's appendectomy when her appendix ruptured, my colonoscopy, and my hernia surgery. I specifically requested him for the latter even though it meant a longer wait. We joke that he's the family surgeon.
Hands down the consummate professional. Also, always a pleasure dealing with his assistant Ruti (sp?). She's good at making you feel at ease.

Just had today my second colonoscopy with Dr Kopac he is excellent and put me at ease. His explanation was through and caring. He is very positive and a fine example of a great surgeon. I would highly recommend him. RHS is very fortunate to have him on staff.

I felt excellent taken care off, made me feel comfortable, and at ease. I appreciated the time Dr Kopac took, to explain my procedures to me.
