An excellent out patient experience at this hospital, on two separate occasions. Very clean with fantastic staff (doctors, nurses, clerical and admin) who are dedicated and are passionate about their jobs! Well done and keep up the great work!

This is the worse hospital in Canada. The workers there can not speak English and they are rude.the so called nurses are not real RN’s . My brother went in and never left. He died 5 months later because of a super bug he picked up due to him being surrounded by unsanitary conditions and a surgery the doctor botched up therefor his internal organs became septic. He was a strong man and he fought too live but finally he died no fault of his own. How do you fight the medical system? They kept his limbs tied for 5 month and they had the audacity to send the restraints home to me with his personal effect. They killed a beautiful human being and I have such anger for this hospital. By the way...if you are paying up front ...no problem...where is our Canada the way it should be?

I had my baby here and the nurses and doctors were so good to me. They checked on me often, made sure it wasnt painful and even stayed in the room with me. If i ever have a baby again...it will be here!!

Emergency department should be torn down and rebuilt with new management. Keep the few good doctors and nurses. Hire more. Include a scheduler. This is not a supermarket. There is no self checkout. Staff accordingly.

I went to Emergency Hospital with a swollen fingers and hands plus to add numbness and tingling from my fingers up to my tennis elbow. I cannot described how painful it was what I been experiencing for the last few months on and off, then I decided to visit the Richmond Emergency at around almost past 4 pm. When we got there with intense pain, the emergency has about almost 10 people waiting a head of me, which is ok. Form actual walking in to waiting for the intake nurse registration took only about half an hour which is good, then after that I need to wait to waiting area again for the other nurse to call you to hve a bed or a chair inside for the doctor to check you up. So waited for about 2 hours before we got called in which is pretty descent since i was a head by 10 more people. When they finally call my name with another waiting patient, they advice us to sit on another waiting chairs for the other nurses to talk to us. so another 15 minutes or so, nurses came and asked the same question what ever the front desk intake nurses asked you already. without the nurse, checking my blood pressure again since my BP was so high during first check up by the first nurse because of the pain I'm having. She advice me again for another waiting time for the doctor to come and see me.. So i was patiently said ok then. After half an hour doctor arrived called me and told me to follow him, which I did, but there is no available room for him to take me, so the doctor told me right outside the hallway of the hospital to take my sweater and jacket off for him to do my check up..Really? right outside the hallway where I'm in front of another patient room. So I have no choice since the doctor said it was busy so I need to take my jacket, my sweater and put down all my belongings on the floor just to have this 5 seconds treatment with him.. so at the end he just told me oh, it's just inflammation of your mucles and i don't see any sign of carpal tunnel sydrome... Which is a good sign for me, but I asked him aren't you going to at least have a blood test or extray just to make sure I'm really ok? The doctor said, no need it' looks ok all you need is to take advil and wiggle your fingers to the air every time you fell numb and tingling...I told hm, my hands are really important to me, I depend on my hands all the time for work, so do i need to rest it at least.. nothing no advice, not even antibiotic for inflammation.. I waited for almost 3 hours just to have a check by a docotr for not even 3 minutes..this hospital was such a joke...nurses pretending to be busy even thou you can completely see all of them right to their own booth giggling, drinking coffe and talking to each other... and what they have a poster hanging by the wall of the hospital stating that Staff at This hospital are making sure of any patients, health, concern, safety and so on and on.. that I believed maybe some nurses are doing what they can do and some of the doctors also..but not all of them which my badluck experience it last night December 18, 2017 at exactly 4 pm at Richmond Hospital B.C. Can someone advice me where to get this people reported? we need to eliminate this kind of workers who's taking care supposed to be for our health and medical concern.. We need staff that's good on what they do and not in just for the money they make... It's unfair for all of us, since we are paying our MSP, we deserved a much descent service than this...

This has to be the worst hospital in Canada...they are staffed with people who can barely speak English and are extremely rude to patients and visitors. They have a different nurse( not a real nurse..LPN because their wages are cheaper)EVERY SHIFT SO THEY NEVER GET TO KNOW THE PATIENT. AND THE DOCTOR THAT FOLLOWS YOU IS CHANGED EVERY WEEK. Never would I have thought the medical system get get so low....the patient is bound to give up and the family give up based on so much distrust. If you are paying upfront CASH maybe its different One mistake after another..I have never prayed so much ...

I've just spent 3 nights in RGH. I was very impressed with the nursing staff. They were all very kind and caring. I was in 4 years ago and the care was terrible. There is a definite improvement now. Cleaning is no better if anything worse. The patient in the next bed was discharged and two workers came in to redo the bed. Before they touched the bed they dragged a wet mop around the floor. Then came in while floor was still wet and stripped and remade the bed. Floor when it dried was dirty from their footprints. Area around my bed was never touched. Floor in bathroom sticky and it looked like mould on the floor.

Feb 26, 2016 7:30am - I had an abdominal hysterectomy to remove a 9cm fibroid. I woke up to a nurse reprimanding me and disappointed that I screamed in pain during post-surgery "care". That should have been the first sign for a hospital something was not right! She went on to show me how to push the button twice for the morphine because I "would" need it. I felt like a total failure, couldn't stop crying or apologizing to this 20 something nurse after a major surgery. I was left in abandoned part of the maternity ward at RGH for my semi-private room. The following day a nurse took me for a walk all hooked up and left me because she had a call to attend to. I had no idea how to get back to my room and when I did, I shit my pants. Too embarrassed to ask for help, I crawled to the bathroom and cleaned myself. The next morning I had a nurse that was totally mean and miserable and I told my mom not to say anything because I needed my meds on time. She failed to read my chart and thankfully left before her shift was over. My family who was visiting saw me spiral and 2 new nurses had to stabalize me. I was told that the nurse never read my chart. She was treating me as an outpatient who delivered a baby not an organ. It gets better... My surgeon, Dr. Arkuran didn't came to see me 48 hours after my surgery. Most surgeons are required to see their patient at the end of the day or the morning after. Most of the nurses were over worked and still remained remarkable.. I had the exception of the post-nurse, the one on day 2 and my priceless surgeon who let me stay another day to recover from the day before. I know now that most of these care givers are run down because the hospitals and OB's facilitate cash births and there's a big business to give birth in Richmond at the time of my surgery. I grew up in Richmond and it was close to my mom's for recovery. I was made to feel like a failure and the surgery did not recover in the 6-8 weeks time that I was told. The lack of mindfulness during recovery spurred a lot of unnecessary trauma and feelings of failure. It has been over a year and I am on long term disability. Since my operation, I am now able to sit for 2 hours and walk for a normal duration without severe pinching and pressure pain. I wish that we had better options for our doctors and nurses in our system that is so broken. There no longer seems to be pride and very little time for proper care. The bottom line is always the $$$ and the human body is the sacrifice. I would never recommend this hospital. It's a factory not a hospital. This is not a reflection on all the people that work there but definitely a wake-up call to those that play such a huge role on people's state of mind during recovery.
