Dr. Sampath did my gastric bypass which was very successful. Follow up was done by phone and I have no complaints with his manner. I am forever grateful for this surgery and his kindness.

This a doctor I would stay clear of. He was my Mom's dr. In 1 yr he had done 1 colonoscopy, as well as 2 rectum stretches on. She had been bleeding for months from her rectum, which he had told her it was hemroids. Well after many visits to the ER. The GP did an exam, she literally threw her gloves in the garbage can and says that's no hemroid, that's a F ing tumor. She call the OR dr right then and there. Well my mom went into surgery. Well bad enough he missed the tumor it get worse from there. Surgery was a waste of time. They did not remove the tumor, and they put a bag on her. On the wrong side. The tumor was the size of an orange at the opening of the rectum. How did he miss that since it was only a month ago he had to go passed it. So now she still needed surgery to remove the tumor, and place the bad on the correct side. Dr. Sympathy refused to do any more surgery on her. Off to the oncologist she went. Which the oncologist said the tumor had been there for 2 yrs at least. So how did dr sampath miss it and say it was hemroids? The oncologist said he would ask 1 more surgeon, but was not going to shop around if the answer was no. Well Dr Brown at St.Pauls said of course he will do it. He removed the bag and placed it on the correct side as well and removed the tumor. His words also were the tumor had been there for at least 2 yrs. Dr Sampath knowing she was already a survivor of cancer , reason why she was going to him to begin with. Was for stretches from complication, from having a bag and it being removed. I guess when ur a senior drs don't actually look? I would stay clear of him and his office.

I had seen Dr.Sampath 4 years ago for a colonoscopy and found him to be very caring, knowledgeable and kind. 4 years later a very different doctor, curt condensing and not the personable doctor I had met 4 years earlier.

I saw Dr Sampath 7 years ago for 1 of 3 prolapse. As a senior he asked me what I would do after being fixed up. I told him which included getting my life back and living it to my fullest potential. The surgery Dr Sampath did fixed the problem I was seeing him about but the other 2 issues. Within a few weeks the other 2 surgeries were canceled as the 1 surgery resulted in fixing and healing all 3. I received excellent follow-up care and I'm still doing well. Thank you Dr Sampath and Richmond General staff.
