Dr Perna was my therapist for 2.5 years and made my life worse that whole time. He didn't even make attempts to diagnose me and most of our sessions ended with me crying and him ignoring me to mess around on his phone. He was my first therapist and because of him it took more than 5 years to get over my therapy related trauma and get a correct diagnosis/therapist who I didn't get flashbacks from. He's an ego maniac with thinly veiled anger issues who gets passive aggressive whenever anyone disagrees with him, you'll get better advice and help from a random teenager working at burger king, at least then you won't be in debt from his ridiculous pricing. Even though there was never anything even vaguely resembling progress he ended every session by telling my guardians "I think we made real progress this time" many times he told my guardians and me that he believed I simply had behavioral issues and no mental illness when I showed clear signs of autism, severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, and many other mental illnesses that I have been since diagnosed with, no thanks to him. Coincidentally I am friends with 2 of his other former patients who both agree that he's the worst therapist they have ever met. If you care about yourself whoever you're looking into getting him as a therapist for do yourself a favor and don't. Because all he cares about is his reputation

This man wrecked my life. He mocked me for all my problems but once laughed at me and called me a girl for getting a pink drink. A cruel unpleasant person who cares about nothing but his cash and his reputation.

When we started with Dr. Perna our daughter was involved in extremely high risk behavior and failing school. She is now on the right path. Yes, he is expensive, but we would never put a $ amount on our daughter's future. Because of him she is no longer involved in high risk behavior or failing school. He was very instrumental at school meetings as he knows sped law inside and out. Our daughter is making progress and we have hope for the first time in years! Please note that Dr. Perna works with challenging kids so if you are reading reviews from people who worked with him for a few months or 6 months they most likely were not working with him long enough to make a difference. It takes time and patience with the type of child he sees. Unfortunately, many psychologists are not accepting insurance anymore so I don't think this is an isolated incident. Thank you for Dr. Perna for the work you do!

He is libtard. He stops others from expressing their ideas over all poor. But he is pretty smart so make sure you have you facts straight. Also ask him why he doesn't have a ring, why he is allways at stripe clubs and why he smokes weed.

He’s ok I guess, been with him for a year, cares a lot about the interests and hobbies of many patients, even going out of his way to do things that they enjoy. Helped me tremendously with my lack of communication skills and anti-social behavior. And he seemed to help many others I knew with parent problems along with mine who had communication and misinformation problems between separated parents. All around great work and I don’t agree at all with theses reviews and they were just tough situations.

We nick named him "Dr Piranha" because he cost us an arm and a leg. Falsely led us to believe that he would take our health insurance. It was six months into three-times-a-week (group sessions for son and a group session for the parents along with son's individual session). Didn't seem to try to get to know my son as a person. He joked to the parents group that "if you think, I'm expensive, the lawyer bills are even higher" - NOT FUNNY. During our trying time, we saw many parents drop out - which made me wonder "how many patients actually stay with him for at least six months?". He was always more than happy to suggest that he would come to the school to be the 'big gun' at additional fee. The best thing that came out of the whole traumatic experience was that we found a psychiatrist who actually worked out and helped my son. I do NOT recommend this self-serving man as a doctor.

Views child through narrow prism of pathology (opposite of strength based) without expansive thinking or successful efforts to get to know the whole child. Diagnoses freely, without deeper information or consultation. Very disappointed with irresponsible approach which raises concerns about the welfare of other children and families.

This man treated our foster son (before he came to us) and did tremendous harm. His multiple diagnoses ignored the destructive environment this child was in, and as the child closed down, he labeled him 'oppositional-defiant'. All this boy needed was someone to understand him, not label him. The prescription list from this doctor was long and dangerous. Chose someone else.

This man is more concerned about his his (baseless) inflated ego, than he is about his patients and their families. Very negative experience. Made the experience of having a troubled child 10 times worse by adding on stress of dealing with him.
