LOVE Dr. MacRae! Her bedside manner is impecible, she is very experienced, and she gets things done. She tells it like it is, and then gives options on how to take care of the situation. You can rest at ease when you are in her care. She is also VERY incredible with the family, and talks "english", not medicalease.

My surgery with Dr. McRae went very well. I had a recurrance of a brain tumour that was first found 15 years ago. Dr. McRae is very meticulous, I appreciated her coming personally for rounds and to have her peek through the operating room door to give a cheery good morning and wave the morning of the surgery put my mind at ease. Dr. McRae told me that she would be glad to do another surgery if it was requested, I know I would feel safe in her competent hands.

Dr.MacRae is #1!! I felt so incredibly safe with her doing my brain surgery a few years ago. She is brilliant and was very very positive. Her words everything will turn out great were gospel to me. I trusted her with my life. I had absolutely no doubt with her. She is brilliant and I had a pang in my stomach when she just informed me she was retiring in 1 or 2 years. There is a possibility of regrowth of my tumor, further surgery. I've always known that but felt safe because she would be there doing the surgery. I wish her the best!but what a huge loss to us! Whoever will take over her patients has incredibly big shoes to fill.

Dr Macrae might not be the warmest person, but if I had to choose Mrs. Giggles-All-The-Time or her to do my brain surgery, there's no competition. I was lucky enought to have her twice, and I am now recovering quite nicely. I wish her good luck and relaxing times in her retirement! Thank you Dr.Macrae, you saved my life!!

I ended having a choice on which Dr. I would like to have do my surgery and without hesitation I kept Dr. MacRae. She is almost always on time, although she tends to come in the evening to visit her patients and not in the morning like the other Doctors, but she will come in person where sometimes patients of other Doctors only see the residents and not the surgeon. Her knowledge is out of this world, and although most find her not so pleasant, put that aside and have her as a surgeon. She is usually quite helpful with questions, but she does have her off days same as everyone. She is overworked just like everyone else in healthcare. I highly recommend Dr. MacRae for surgery. She can be harsh but she does an amazing job. Good Recovery and low infections from what I can see.

When I had to have brain surgery I polled the staff when I had my MRI and asked, "If you were having brain surgery, who would you want to do it?" They ALL said, "Dr. MacRae", and she did mine. I have never found her to be anything other than pleasant, not warm and fuzzy, but professional and polite and extremely competent. If I want someone to gush over me, I'll attend a Mary Kay meeting. When someone is operating on your brain, you want skill! For a superior neurosuregeon, I highly reccommend her.

Dr.MacRae is always busy with her commitment to neurosurgery. While she is not the "warmest" doctor, I feel that she cares about me(my health), and listens to me - when I have to be cut again, I will smile to know that doctor will be helping me.

Absolutely appaling lack of bedside manner. Very sharp, impatient, disregarded obvious test results that have been confirmed by 2nd and 3rd opinions. I felt I was treated like a surgery seeking hypocondriac. She told me my problem was not big enough to warrant my symptoms, when subsequent opinions have stated that size has nothing to do with symptom severity. She will be retiring next year, and it's not soon enough. I left in tears, and I would never recommend anyone see her. I've been told she's an excellent surgeon, but with bedside manners like hers, she risks missing important information because she's just not listening.
