Dr. Gartner was extremely disrespectful, rude, and impatient. When I asked her for her opinion or recommendation for the appropriate treatment, her tone was very rude with a lot of attitude. At the end of the examination, she just got up and left the room. I felt very dismissed, and disrespected as she abruptly left without acknowledging us. I do not recommend Tot 2 Teen Dental to anyone. It is unacceptable for Dr. Anita Gartner to treat any of her patients/parents in that manner. That behaviour and attitude is absolutely inappropriate. It was our first appointment with them, and definitely will be the last.

Dr. Gartner is the head of Tot to Teen Dental in Vancouver, BC on Hastings street. I was sent to her after my son, who was premature born and did not form tooth enamel, had serious tooth decay. I had also researched and visited other paediatric dentists and did not have a good experience. My son was required to have major work. He was also terrified of dentists.

Before I go on, parents, you need to understand that paediactric dentistry is a tough job. Imagine, every single day, every client is absolutely terrified. They are yelling, crying, kicking, and biting because of their fear. Your job is to get the work done. So, sometimes you have the ability to calm them down; sometimes they will not calm down no matter what you do. But you have to get the work done so that they stay healthy. Some of the techniques to "just get it done" are not pretty to watch. Kids scream; the cry. Honestly, the first few times my son cried so much he popped blood vessels under his eyes. He was so scared that I was the one holding him down. He bit Dr. Gartner, not once, twice, and she still agreed to have him as a client.

When push came to shove, he needed more work done than could be completed awake. After a long try of other techniques, we conceded that dental work under general anesthesia was the best choice.

We had had a terrible experience at Children's Hospital with a previous surgery under general anesthesia so we were very nervous going to get our son's teeth done with Dr. Gartner and Dr. Chanpong (dental anesthesiologist). We were so lucky to have them both.

Our son had 4 pulpectomies, 4 crowns, 5 cavities filled and 3 teeth ground down inbetween. A lot of work. Dr. Gartner and the team at Dr. Chanpong's office worked like a well oiled machine. From start to finish, everything was done in 1.5 hours. They kept us calm, more importantly, my son was calm the whole time. The office was immaculately clean. There were tons of toys, books and a big screen movie playing ... and it smelt so great in there too! I was so impressed with their professional and kind nature. I cannot thank them enough. This nightmare of tooth decay is finally over for us. It has been a 3.5 year journey (and that's a long time when your kid is only 5.5 years old).

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Gartner!
