Staff: Thankfully, no office staff to get through. So the Dr is easy to access directly.
Helpfulness: She is extremely helpful. Especially, when you get really sick and really need championing.
Punctuality: Great! I know that if she is late, it’s because someone else is in trouble. I made her late a few times, so I don’t mind waiting and collecting good karma.
Knowledge: Amazing! The nice thing is that she actually explains things in detail.

I have been blessed to be a patient of Dr. Haya Maal-Bared now for many years. She has helped me move through one of the toughest times of my life. She is a gifted psychiatrist and someone who holds space in a way that allows you to feel heard so you can recognize what is keeping you stuck. She is non-judgmental and incredibly insightful. She is literally one of the best mental health professionals out there in Toronto.

Dr. Haya Maal-Bared's response
Hello,
Unfortunately, I am not currently seeing patients at the office at all. The office is scheduled to move from 101 Spadina Ave, unit 211, Toronto to 477 Richmond St, unit 204, Toronto in May 2021, but I will likely only be providing virtual care by phone and video calls until at least October 2021 given the pandemic and the slow rate of the vaccination program in Ontario.

Dr. Maal-Bared is an amazingly wise and solid individual. A truly gifted psychiatrist with a brilliant brain and a kind heart. I felt very lucky to get care and advice from her during covid time.

Really helpful despite virtual care during COVID. Grateful to have access to her support when things are so stressful.

Dr. MB is an amazing human being as well as a wonderful, caring, knowledgeable psychiatrist. She is understanding, but also challenges you to 'think outside the box'.

The only doctor I have ever had who doesn’t seem to care about money at all, ever! Never charged me anything despite a year of bounced billings (I was too depressed to get my act together to renew my health card - I still feel super aweful about that). She is really conscious of acting in my best interest. I never feel pressured by her or judged, even when everyone else is pressuring and judging me. She’s more reliable in her support than my own parents and husband while still being able to confront me with the reality of situations when I am being unreasonable. She never talks down to me. She thinks out loud when I ask her to and explains her thought process about my diagnosis and treatment. She has more detailed chats with me over meds side effects and drug-drug interactions than any doctor or pharmacist I have ever had. She is really knowledgeable about complex and rare medical syndromes so I can talk about my medical conditions with her and she totally gets it. To top it all: She will fit me in whenever I need it so I don’t have to wait for hours in the emergency department to talk to some stranger. What’s not to like?! Eternally grateful she is my doctor. A Godsend.
