Dr. Yamashiro is incredible at what he does. I have been a patient of his for many, many years. He is always willing to talk to me about what is going on and he is really good at what he does. He is an incredibly physician and I appreciate his honesty with me when discussing my health. He is knowledgeable, helpful, timely, and he always has the friendliest staff. My recommendation - GO SEE HIM!

I was referred to St. Marks hospital where I called and spoke with an ever so friendly woman on the phone who told me Dr. Yamishiro was a great doctor his office at this time was located across the street from St. Marks hospital. So I made my first appointment and when my boyfriend and I got there, we got the sense he wasn't a very serious doctor. He cracked jokes left and right. We figured it was his way of breaking the ice. Didn't answer any of my serious questions I had for him. He sent me to the lab to get a bunch of blood tests done. So we figured we would give him a second chance to see if he was better. Second visit was much much better. He acted like he had time for us and acted interested towards us and explained I had RH negative blood. We thought at this point this was our doctor. Third visit, Dr Yamishiros office had moved to the woman's pavilion and was there to find out the gender of the baby. We got there and was told by one of the secretary's that they had called me and left messaged asking to reschedule. Frustrated I looked at my phone and my boyfriends to see if they had called. They hadn't called either of us. Luckily they said they could possibly reschedule me for that same day a little later. Good news so we again filled out paper work for insurance, address, phone number ect. And left to show up an hour later. We were rushed through to find out it was maybe a girl and we were going to go in for an actual ultra sound. Was told the hospital would contact me to schedule appointment. Was sent off this day to get blood work done for down-syndrome and 3 other different things. Never got called to schedule appointment for ultrasound so I called hospital to find out if I could schedule appointment luckily I was able to. My last visit I went in to find out test results. I got in and asked receptionist what info they have on my profile because I haven't got anything in the mail from them they said they would send. Turns out my address, and phone number were both incorrect. When trying to straighten the info out the receptionist got an attitude with me and acted like she didn't want to help me. I got it to the point she changed my address. I decided I would just have my boyfriend deal with it when he got home from work. I went in and was seated and was once again rushed through my appointment by Dr. Yamishiro and he once again was not serious about any of my questions I had for him. Was in the room with me for no longer than 5 mins to measure my belly. And made a b-line for the door. I said wait! What about my test results? He then asked what test results? I said I didn't know the name of the test it was for down-syndrome and some other things. He then came back acted frustrated and looked on the computer for my results. Needless to say ladies if your looking for a care provider to actually care for you and your unborn child this is not the office or the doctor I would recommend. He is a very careless doctor who only sees you for dollar signs. That is my own opinion and like I said, I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Thanks for reading.

He was by OB for my first pregnancy (which was easy-peasy, no complications, 5 hr natural birth) and I loved him. My second pregnancy was more complicated and I ended up loosing the babies relatively early. I was unimpressed with bedside manner and the amount of information/detail he conveyed. I am looking for a new dr now.

Visited week before a long holiday weekend for 1st prenatal visit. Dr could not find a heart beat and worried that baby had died. Had me do blood tests to confirm. Told me he would rush them and call me with/without results before holiday weekend. No call. Went weekend not knowing if I had lost baby. Monday, no call. Waited until office open 2 hours before calling them. Dr was too busy so his nurse broke bad news to me bluntly. I miscarried, no follow up help/instruct given. Just told me to take lots of ibuprofen unless we decide to do procedure. 1 yr later, had another miscarriage different dr. New dr found reason for miscarriages. Type 2 diabetes. He was surprised that 1st Dr didn't find out w/blood tests. Dr supposed to test for this to find out why I miscarried. But Dr just brushed it off: this happens to most women. Just because happens to many women, doesn't mean didn't need to find out why. Went for yr with undiagnosed diabetes and because of this lost another baby.

I was having a lot of pain during sex. Dr. Yamashiro said I had vulvar vestibulitis, and after a few failed Rx attempts, he performed a vestibulectomy. When I came in for my post op he said, "Your biopsy shows you have Lichen Sclerosis." He said there is no cure and no real treatments(there are actually treatments.) Then he looks at my chart and says,"Nevermind, I thought I saw it on your chart but now I don't. Thank god you don't have it, it's horrible....Oh, no wait, here it is. Sorry. Well, you have a few years before it gets bad." He told me almost nothing about it. I started crying and he walked out. I never went back. I now see a different OBGYN and a Dermatological specialist, who both think I may not have Lichen Sclerosis. It says Lichenoid pattern, which is not conclusive at all. They are re-examining my biopsy slides now. I still can't believe he A) gave me that news in the most insensitive way possible and B) I may not have it all. I hope no woman has to go through that.

I had read all these great comments about him so I decided to go with him. I had done invitro 5 times finally getting pregnant and keeping the babies. The first appt he told me there is a very high chance of my twins not surviving. After losing so many babies I thought that was a little insensitive. It's one thing to have to deal with that if it is a reality but he really freaked me out. Then towards the end I kept having infections and I went 4 times for cultures and his staff never sent it in to be annualized. If they had they would have caught my toxemia earlier. I delivered at 30 weeks and I was very sick. He was nice to me and he is very friendly but I kind of think he just rushes too quickly and overlooks the important details.

I absolutely loved Dr. Yamashiro. I had never been to a male OB before, but when I found out I was pregnant, I was referred to him by two friends. He was wonderful. He always made me feel safe and comfortable. I was 39 and concerned about some of the added risks of having a child "later in life." He put me at ease from day 1 and related well to both me and my husband. This doctor has a great sense of humor so if you can't handle a sarcastic side, don't see him. Most importantly, I felt like my health and the health of my baby were his top priority. His nurse, Angie, always returned my calls promptly and she was always really sweet. In the end, my blood pressure started to rise. Dr. Yamashiro always kept me calm and was very reassuring and when the time came to make the call...we scheduled an induction and he delieverd our perfect baby boy at 1:39 in the morning...on a weekend...with a smile on his face.
