i saw julian today after being referred to someone else, but decided to see him after a recommmedation from a friend of mine. even though he was really busy he made me feel like i was the most important patient of the day. his secretary was especially nice and helped me find the office when i got lost. they didn't even care that i was really late. thank you dr julian and i think you are really cute BTW :) ........ see you soon for my surgery

I had a put off getting my problematic wisdom teeth out for 6 years now. Due to a horrific experience in my adolescents and non stop issues with my teeth from childhood, I haven't been able to ever walk into a dentist without a panic attack.
2 weeks ago I was in soo much agony, I literally rung every Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon within a 50km radius desperately trying to get in for Surgery as soon as possible. The reception staff were extremely understanding of my nervousness and helpful facilitating me with the information I needed to obtain a referral and booked me in for a consultation within days.
Dr. Julian Hirst seen me at his practice on level 1 at Chermside Day Hospital. There was no dentist smell, no prodding tools, no dentist chair. My crippling anxiety was instantly put to rest. The Dr. Listened to all my concerns, explaining in depth the procedure, it's risks and what to expect with my recovery. Not that he sugar coated it, but his gentle demeanour and straightforward informative approach made me feel most confident finally going through with the surgery.
I arrived and was looked after beautifully by all the nurses and most especially the anesthetist Dr. Moses. I was out for what felt like a 10mins nap, and woke up with no adverse reaction. I was in less than 2hrs & I am resting up at home with minimal swelling and pain. On discharge, A script for anti-inflammatory, pain relief and ice packs to take home as well as extensive home care advice. Seriously impressed by the entire experience. Especially the pumping music in theatre. Highly recommended!!

I had a consultation today about my 4 wisdom teeth, that my Dentist said had to be removed. Dr Hirst was running a little late, but apologised as he had emergency patients. Dr Hirst is very intelligent and so caring for a specialist. I was very nervous but he put me at ease, by fully answering my questions, as I had a lot lol. Surgery takes place in a couple of weeks, and the medical staff were very prompt and professional. I'm very happy with Dr Hirst and staff's service.

I was expecting to see a dental chair when I went to see this guy for removal of three wisdom teeth, but thankfully there was just a normal doctor's room. He ran 20 min late so I had to nail him on that, but I think the patient before me was difficult. Dr Hirst was nice but looked a bit tired. I think he works too hard. He answered all my questions and I was impressed that he gave me his mobile number in case I had problems after the surgery. Thankfully the surgery went really well at the Wesley. I was a bit sore for a week but could still go to work (against his advice though...ha). So even though he could improve with his punctuality, I still would highly recommend this dentist.

i was really nervous going into surgery but dr julian put me at ease right away. really nice staff and spent lots of time explaining my surgery too me. dr moses at the hospital was really nice and the hole experience was good. i was worried about my stitches after surgery and call dr hirst on his mobile number and he didn't make me feel bad for bothering him and told me it would be ok but to come see him. nothing was wrong when i saw him and he didn't charge me anything for the appointment! dr julian is the best dr i have seen.

I can't fault Dr Hirst, or recommend him enough. He is patient, caring and an exemplary surgeon with an excellent surgical team. His administrative staff are also lovely and provided reminders for every appointment.

Brilliant doctor, really knows his stuff. I've given him a three for punctuality only because we waited for an hour for my consultation, but on the surgery day I was admitted bang on time. Keep up the good work Julian!

I have nothing but praise for Dr Julian Hirst, and his staff. He is kind, enthusiastic, went out of his way to be helpful, and seems to genuinely care about others. I had several teeth removed five days ago. Since the surgery, I have had minimal discomfort, no pain, and am healing well. Feedback was welcomed and kindly acknowledged. Also, I was given Dr Hirst's contact details, should I have any queries or concerns. Highly impressed with the care Dr Hirst has given me, and pleased to recommend him. Melynda
