I cannot even begin to say how awesome Dr. Ballinger is. She was such a comfort to me when my teenage daughter was diagnosed with systemic lupus affecting her kidneys this summer. I still say to myself the words of encouragement she gave me. Also, she is the instructor and mentor of a lot of the other doctors in this group. I LOVED her bedside manner, her calm spirit, her approach to lupus care, and her amazing expertise.

My daughter was examined by a wonderful coworker of Dr. Ballinger. However, when Dr. Ballinger came to see her she was very abrupt and cold towards my daughter. Essentially acted as if her pain is something she should get used to. Treated her like it was something she was over reacting to. Told her that it was ok to argue with her "that she didn't care, that it wouldn't hurt her feelings!" My daughter was left feeling as if the pain she is in is just what her life is going to be for her. That no one would be willing to help us find the answers we need. Horrible bedside manner, cold woman.

Dr. Ballinger is fantastic...I have no idea why the other posts had a problem, but this doctor has cared for 2 of my 3 kids for the past 6 years. She is thorough and compassionate. She listens to kids and parents and takes your concerns serious. She is a wonderful doctor and I couldn't imagine my kids going to any other pediatric rheumatologist!

Her bedside manner is awful. She has never given us a definitive diagnosis for our child. She talks in circles and can not give us straight answers to any of our questions.
