I was with Dr. Patel for about 3 years. During the last year, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Patel as needing knee surgery, but I kept asking him for a referral to an orthopedist as I believed the problem was in my hip. After being denied this for a year, I finally went to Scripps to change doctors. Finally, when I got the information from the orthopedist, I was ready for hip surgery and in great pain. I still don't know why this happened, Dr. Patel is not one to explain much.

Despite having a PPO the doctor's staff insists on pre-approving a Cat-Scan with the insurance company. This pre-approval request was made 3 days after seein the patient who was doubled over in pain. They did not include enough information in the request to allow it to be approve. Then after it was rejected, Dr. Patel was out of the office and rather than dealing with it or ensuring Dr. Patel would deal with it they just sat on it. When my husband requested that they do something to help they would not even do anything under the guise of HIPPA violations even though he wanted no HIPPA informationl. This office does not appear to understand how to treat a patient with any urgency.

Dr. Patel has been my personal physician for almost 10 years. I have been very pleased with his care and service. He is personable and his staff are always helpful. They are accomodating for short notice visits (when necessary).
