Unprofessional and rude. It needs to be on the public record that Dr Dutch has very little interpersonal skills and this affects patient care.

The second time I have had health issues and been seen by Dr Dutch. He has twice now possibly saved my life. First time was emergency surgeon at royal Melbourne for a facial under skin infection I was suffering, and now on new year's day 2022 at a festival while working/supervising st John's first aid, DR Dutch refered me to a local hospital for possible heart issues and was correct to be concerned for me, I now need to see a cardiologist and have further tests. St John first aid/ambulance were all great by recognising something not quite right with me and passing me up to Dr Dutch. I think Doc also spoke with the emergency department I attended and ensured thorough testing was done on me. Many thanks yet again, to this doctor and the st John's crew I also saw.

Extremely unprofessional. Talked about other patients in an extremely rude manner in front of me. Was condescending and dismissive. I have no idea how he can be employed at one of the biggest hospitals in Melbourne.

I experienced very poor treatment from this doctor. His demeanor was very entitled, dismissive and patronising during our interaction. I would suggest AVOIDING Martin Dutch if possible as he lacks the empathy and professional attitude toward patients.

As the appointment progressed Dr. Martin seemed inconvenienced by assessing me as it was a non-emergency. Please note that I went to the hospital this particular day because my GP was closed. Luckily the waiting room was surprisingly empty and I was admitted within ten minutes. When he gave me a diagnosis, I asked questions to further understand symptoms and causes. Instead of communicating effectively, he actually typed the diagnosis into Google on his computer, clicked the first search result, skimmed through the site and read off the screen.

During this time, a knock was heard at the door. The door opened and the person saw me sitting with Dr. Martin and immediately apologised and turned around. Dr. Martin insisted on saying it was fine and proceeded to ask his colleague why he came around. Then they had an exchange across the room about getting coffee and he said he would join him later. This was quite inappropriate and nothing was said regarding the interruption. He continued reading the diagnosis off the screen and I asked if it was worthwhile to rule out any plausible causes. He asserted he did not think it was necessary (even though the website recommended it), and then Dr. Martin explicitly states "I'm an emergency doctor, you should go to your GP for more information and assessments."

Lastly, I asked if he will repeat the diagnosis so I can write it down and pass on this information. He offers to write a note to give to my GP. What he does next is write his assessment but as at the very end that he felt I was quite unhappy his professional opinion.

This was passive aggressive considering at no point in our appointment did I express that I was unhappy. I simply asked questions to try and gain more insight. Moreover if he sensed I was unhappy, he could have asked rather than include this assumption in a letter he offered to write out of assistance. It is a doctor's duty to be respectful, and instead he was poor and inappropriate in communication and trivialised my concern.

Afterward I went to a doctor who had a different assessment, referred me for additional years, and it was a complete contrast to the negative interaction I had with Dr. Martin. For reference I have never had a bad experience with any other medical professional.

I hope no one treats his mother the way he treated mine. Both my sister and I were reduced to tears hearing my mother's experience.
