Absolutely traumatizing experience. I was diagnosed with single-sided-deafness after labyrinthitis. He told me I was 100% deaf in one ear and just go and live with one ear, I was devastated. I asked about a cochlear implant, but he told me that I would not benefit from it. I told him about my ongoing dizziness despite having done vestibular physiotherapy, he ignored this. Facebook groups were a much better resource than this ENT. I then got a second opinion from Mater Cochlear Implant team who advised I'm a great candidate for a cochlear implant and have the surgery planned. This man has a cochlear implant surgeon working next door who will perform my surgery. Clearly he is not up to date with modern research about treatment options for single-sided deafness and it should be up to the patient to decide whether they want to down this path or not.

I too found this man extremely rude, he ignored half my symptoms and any history. He made me feel like I wasn’t important enough to take up his time. If I have seen my GP, been referred, waited for an appointment and turned up, then there is something wrong with my ears, I wouldn’t be wasting MY time on him if there wasn’t. Taking my business elsewhere.

As yet I haven't seen Dr Howson I merely rang to make an appointment. I was greeted by one of the rudest, condescending woman I have had the misfortune to speak to. As a matter of fact I got of that phone so irate at the way I was spoken to I am still debating whether to keep the appointment.

My GP referred me to this doctor. He started out by being rude to my husband, who was accompanying me, because he felt my husband (who has bad knees) didn't walk into the consultation room fast enough. My consultation with Dr Howson left me feeling upset and humiliated and he provided no answer to the ongoing problem, for which my GP had referred me. Dr Howson is a very rude and dismissive person.

D Howson is a wonderful caring doctor who operated on my nasal polyps and it is the first time in 30 years that I have not have any sinus or hay fever problems. I would recommend him.

It's two weeks now after my septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery and I can breath through my nose effortlessly for the first time in my life. Dr Howson was the best choice and I'm.so happy that I went ahead with this. He answered all of my questions, gave me all of the information that I needed to make an informed decision and came to see me just before the surgery which made me feel completely at ease with the whole process. Post surgery I didn't feel any pain with the medication, mainly just a few days of discomfort through having a blocked nose. After day 5 I started rinsing and tried breathing through my nose for the first time and couldn't believe the extra volume of airflow even with a post surgery congested nose. I keep looking at my before and after photos of my septum and I don't know how he did it, I dont want to know the details, just glad I chose him.

Howson is a rude & cold-hearted individual with zero empathy. Sadistically laughs when explaining my suffering with debilitating tinnitus. Avoid seeking treatment from him, an extremely unprofessional man.

While Dr Howson is amazing his reception leaves a LOT of to be desired. The older woman who works as his receptionist is unprofessionally judgemental, rude and impedes patients who are in emergency situations from getting the care they require. It is not acceptable that patients are treated so badly. This has been an ongoing issue for quite a while now. I have seen a friend who goes to the clinic become quite distressed more than once over the woman s behaviour. I hope that Dr Howson can either talk to his staff or that the woman is removed. This is not how people should be treated.
