I saw Dr Canty for my 2 year old child - he was extremely professional, stepped me through absolutely everything and answered every question I had. The morning of the surgery when my child was being put under he took extra steps to help me through the process. He has an excellent bedside manner, great with children as well as nervous parents. The surgery went extremely well and the result has been wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him.

I think he has had a lot on his mind- his brothers died . The best doctors are the ones that listen to their patients and have a good bedside manner.

Couldn't agree more with some of the other reviewers he was very condescending and dismissive, I have a situation that is a very much disrupting my life, he also fobbed me off to my GP, said I was having laryngeal spasms but couldn't offer me any type of solution, not sure why considering he's supposed to be an ENT (Throat??) Doctor. Blamed possible anxiety (which I don't have) I actually left there crying because I was very hopeful that he would be able to assist me. Receptionist was very kind and caring.

As with other comments, it seems to be a reoccuring thing that Paul Canty is unhelpful and condescending to his patients, which was my experience.
Despite having clear issues, Dr Canty was dismissive and seemed to do everything he could to pass the buck back to the GP for longstanding issues that the GP had hoped Dr Canty would fix.

On reflection, Dr Canty seems to do as minimal as possible and doesn't seem to want to cover all bases for possible issues/causes of conditions.

I found Dr Canty to be quite condescending and made me feel like I was wasting his time and stupid for having made the appointment to see him, despite it being a recommendation by my GP. He was knowledgeable but did not help make sense of my situation. The reception staff were rude and did not get seen until a half hour after the scheduled appointment time.

Made me wait nearly an hour and the appointment felt rushed which was under 10mins. Told me nothing he can do about reoccurring strep throat and tonsilitis except get them out which he didn't recommend. Happily said if it happens again though come back. Didn't seem interested unless he was getting to charge me again for either surgery or another appointment.

I’ve been seeing Dr Canty for 11 years now and he is the nicest doctor I have ever had experience with. He is so kind, explains things extremely well and is very professional with a great knowledge. He has done numerous operations on my ear and has done an amazing job each time. He really cares which is hard to find in this day and age. 100% recommend him to everyone.

I visited Paul about 18yrs ago with discomfort (something stuck in my throat). he used a dental mirror to look down my throat and dismissed it telling me there was nothing there and i was causing the pain myself. Recently i had surgery to find out that i have thrush in my esophagus and has been the cause of my discomfort and following health issues. i do assume some responsibility because i should have persued it myself with another specialist .

I was referred to Dr Canty by my Cardiologist as I had consulted two ENT's previously and left both times without a lot of clarity as to the condition of my hearing which I felt had been diminishing in the past few years. I consulted Paul yesterday and found him to be extremely professional, he actually LISTENS to what you tell him, pays attention to every word, and is very thoughtful. I felt so at ease and relaxed. Paul sent me for a Hearing Test across the hall as this was required for him to make an accurate diagnosis. I returned to see Paul after the Test and after examining the results compared with a previous test I left the surgery fully informed of my condition and what to do next. I can unreservedly recommend Dr Paul Canty to anyone searching for an excellent ENT Specialist. Shayle Andrews, Enoggera.
