Ratings for Dr. Esmail Arfai
He described me as a "heavy set woman" in a report. I'm 140 lbs. Never met a psychiatrist who destroyed self esteem until I had the misfortune of stepping into this man's office. All his views and advice are extremely outdated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

He was a very good dr, he listened to me carefully and helped me as much as possible. I actually kinda miss him now that he is retired :( felt like a father to me, he was very patient and never gave up on my life even when I gave up on myself :( I used to come out of his office more happy each time.

I read the other reviews before rating and it's so clear to me that the 5 star ratings are fake. The 1 star ones exactly describe what my experience was. the 5 stars ones are short and there's no actual detail about him or his office. I absolutely hate how he made me feel small, stupid, and helpless . I went to this doctor for help and support but he only cared about OHIP money. Don't waste your time. Respect yourself enough not to put yourself through the hellish experience that is this doctor's therapy.

This was a very traumatic experience for me as well as well as his methods goes, on my apt day I was shocked to see that there was no sanitary station, or masks being worn by anyone I was the only one wearing a mask, and that was in the peak of covid pandemic, during the session he wasn't even listening the office is a shambles complete mess and disorganized , while explaining about how my life was so stressful and I was interrupted by him, and says that he worked around the world for 50yrs, and that he has never heard of a teacher who has harmed a child in any way. Basically calling me a liar and he doesn't even knowing the teacher and the things he did to me, but I truely almost flew over the desk but it was his age that saved him I thought I was going to have a heart attack my paulse was beating so fast beathing became difficult, I was so disappointed, and upset 😡 I just left, and walked out.

Very kind doctor. He helped me in many ways. There were times when I arrived late and he still saw me. And his admin is wonderful as well. Very helpful. Thank you Dr. Arfai for the care that you provided me. You are the best :)

I visited Dr.Arfai back around the yearly 2010's. I was in my adolescence. I had zero knowledge of mental health and ways to treat it.
The most I remember about Dr.Arfai was his age. He was too old for his profession. Maybe he was a good psychiatrist when he was younger, but now looking back at it he seem like a person that doesn't care much about his profession and was just trying to drug me up. I had a few session with him where he kept trying to up my dosage for Antidepressants. and later trying to get me on ADHD medication. Luckily It was Hard to get appointments from his staff. So I changed to another psychiatrist. After a few months I came off my antidepressants and wasent diagnosed with ADHD. If I stayed im not sure what this man was going to give me to make a couple of bucks.

This man has an ego problem. If you just listen to him and nod, he'll give you your drugs and sends you on your way. If you voice your concern or ask a questions he throws a huge tantrum and kicks you out. I asked a simple question and he started yelling at me and kicked me out. Days later I'm still in shock and confused. I still don't know what about me asking a question about my mental health can cause a man to have this reaction. like what did just happen?

Helpful doctor, he helped me with my adhd condition that was undiagnosed for most of my life. I am now functional and can do my every day tasks while taking the medication responsibly.

I should have been to this site before waiting 3 months to see him, only to be given a list of meds and told to come back for another 45 min appointment. He didn't listen to me at all. He just talked. I think he saw me as $$$$. Now that I know what others have to say, I won't go back.

I don’t know why everyone is so mean to dr arfai. My sibling was with this dr and he liked him alot. Now that he is retired my sibling misses his sessions. he wants a more personalized experience with a psychiatrist but most don’t invest as much time with a patient as dr arfai used to give to each patient.
