Dr. Lyttle and his staff exceeded my expectations. His receptionists were so kind to my daughter and even let her feed their office Axolotl Epi while we waited for our Appointment. As others have mentioned Dr. Lyttle has found the perfect balance between making sure you and your child feel comfortable for testing and heard when asking questions but is also straight to the point when explaining the process or answering any questions. We came from out of town and so I was a little late to the appointment and we still never felt rushed out of his office. He answered every question I had. We had a phone appointment a few weeks later to go over blood work and he answered all of my questions very thoroughly before I even got the chance to ask them. I’m so glad our daughter is in his care as we navigate these allergies. He is clearly meant to work with kids. My daughter loved him.

My child had this allergist doctor when she was a child. I really like how he is towards children, patient, understanding, talking, not rushing. I will recommend anyone to see this doctor and has children that how much I like this doctor. I also like his book from Ant to Eagle.

In reply to the comment below. Perhaps the hospital MD in BC your son was discharged by would have sent him home with a referral which is standard practice. It is common knowledge if one has not been to see a specialist after more than a year it is required to have a new referral . If a patient has not been seen for almost two years, it takes as long to assess the patient as it would if it were their first visit. It does not appear Dr Lyttle is an uncaring , money mongering doctor based on all the many evaluations documented here. We have only ever received caring, ethical, highly professional care from Dr Lyttle . We do not resent Dr Lyttle being compensated for his time. Discrediting Dr Lyttle in this way seems more of a rant than anything. Across the board 1's is not really an assessment, just Dr Bashing.

We are so disappointed that Dr. Lyttle has decided to prioritize his billings over the care of one of his young asthmatic patients, an innocent little boy. Despite having an established physician-patient relationship with our son, when I called to book an appointment to see Dr. Lyttle after my son was hospitalized on vacation for unknown triggers, the receptionist told me that I would need a new referral to see Dr. Lyttle. It had not even been two years, during a pandemic, since my son last saw him! I advised that my son needs urgent care and we cannot wait six weeks to see my family doctor just to ask for a new referral to the Allergist my son has already seen for years. The receptionist then told me that if we just need a prescription we could have the pharmacy call Dr Lyttle and he would fill it over the phone. So I clarified, Dr. Lyttle needs a new referral because he didn't see my son through COVID, however Dr. Lyttle is comfortable enough in his established patient relationship with my son that he will prescribe my son medication without seeing him. When I asked the receptionist to ask for an exception because my son needs care, (he had just been discharged from a BC hospital on our vacation), we were told that they would not ask for the exception because it is the law that they require a new referral. They would not let me speak with Dr Lyttle or pass on my request for a call. This didn't feel right (especially while seeing my son suffering, struggling to breath, while his Allergist is making him jump through absurd hoops for care), so I did some research and found out there is no law on referrals, it is 100% up to the Specialist. Further, I found out it is in the Physicians Standards of Practice that: A regulated member must not: a. require a repeat referral for a patient with whom the regulated member already has an established physician-patient relationship for the purpose of gaining an additional consultation fee; or b. require a referral from a healthcare provider if the regulated member has arranged to see a patient without a referral.
It turns out Specialists get paid more for referral consultations than ongoing visits. It also turns out that Doctors get paid to fill a prescription IF the pharmacy calls them.

Dr Lyttle was amazing with my 2 year old son, and very thorough, He is pleasant but also gets straight toes pointe also pointed out things in my son I had noticed, and properly explained how I should use my sons inhalers that were given to him by ER doctors after a bout on pneumonia.

Dr Lyttle has been incredible in helping us navigate my baby's colitis. From explaining things in simple terms to referring us to extra specialists

He does magic for the kids and speaks kindly yet bluntly to the parents. He wants to make your child feel comfortable but keep the boundaries clear that he’s a doctor and not your bff. To me, that is the perfect balance in the patient/physician relationship and he has that nailed down perfectly. My 6 year old is multiple food allergic with a history of anaphylactic shock and he was honest with us about her future, which I appreciated because our other allergists would always say things like “I’m sure she will outgrow these, so try not to worry”. His response, which I always suspected “she has less than a 5% shot of growing out of these”. We live outside of Calgary and he’s made it so that we can receive test results or have questions answered over the phone as he’s conscientious of the time needed to drive to the city and that is a HUGE plus for me. So to recap, he’s knowledgeable, helpful, kind, empathetic but not so much that it interferes with patient care and he’s great with kids.

We ended up seeing Dr Lyttle for a second opinion after finding out our daughter was allergic to peanuts at 10 months of age. We cannot say enough about him. He is so kind and patient and knowledgable and on top of current practices. He never seems to rush and has occasionally even taken a phone call rather than making us come in for an appointment which is so amazing for parents of young children. We are extremely grateful to have found him and cannot express enough how wonderful we think he is. Allergies are so stressful and I am new to them so having his knowledge, guidance, and kindness has made the whole process so much easier to navigate.

Will admit I have been to a couple of Allergists previously and was unhappy with the care my son received. Dr. Lyttle is quite frankly an amazing doctor. Helpful, knowledgable, relatable and understanding. Dr. Lyttle has not only helped my son, but he has also taken the time to educate me.
