After seeing several doctors at Duke without getting any answers as to why I kept losing feeling in my legs, I was referred to Dr. Musante. Within 10 minutes of examining me he diagnosed me with cervical spine issues and immediately sent me downstairs for an MRI. HE WAS RIGHT! I had 2 ruptured discs in my neck that were compressing my spinal cord. I was scheduled for surgery 5 days later. 7 months post op I am 100% pain free and I haven't felt this good in years. Musante does come across a little arrogant and he isn't one to spend a lot of time sugar coating your problem but he is one EXCELLENT surgeon! If you have spine problems don't waste your time going any where else.

I have seen several doctors about my back pain. Because I had an incident at work, I was required to see him. He lacks "bedside manner" and doesn't certainly doesn't seem to look at the patient as a person, but rather an insurance check. I am grateful that I have private insurance and don't have to depend solely on where my job sends me for care. If you have a choice, I would advise you to find another provider.

Dr Musante performed neck spinal fusion on me about 6 years ago. It was the 4th & 5th vertebrae. The surgery was flawless. Dr. Musante totally corrected my ruptured disk with his technique. No issue what so ever since. Very thankful for his work. I am 100% pain free now.

Checking in at Triangle Ortho is always terribly slow, and the staff is often rude. Dr. Musante cares about his patients. He cares enough to be honest and straightforward forward. I am a bariatric patient who needs back surgery. He respectfully, but firmly, told me that I had to lose weight prior to him doing surgery. Don't mistake his concise speech and redirection for rudeness. This man is on a mission to give the best care to all his patients.

I met Dr Musantes approx 5 years ago and at the time I was reluctant to have surgery. No pressure from the Dr. He simply stated that if I get to where the pain is unmanageable then come back and he will try to help me. I made it 5 years on physical therapy and being careful until recently making a 12 hour straight drive back from a visit to my Daughters' house in Ms. I was in terrible sciatic pain and could not even roll over in bed. After driving to work, I would have to stand outside the vehicle for 10 minutes until I walked into work. So, I went to see Dr Musantes again. He clearly described what he was going to do and the possible outcome. I was treated magnificently at NCSH in Durham. The staff was supportive and professional. I am now 6 weeks post surgery and walking everyday
at a pretty fast pace (almost jogging slowly) and will be able to increase activity from here on out. I am truly grateful for Dr Musantes expertise and kindness. I can tell he is an exceptional person and cares about his patients. If you are considering a lumbar laminectomy (minimally invasive), go see him....you will not regret it!!

I saw Dr. Musante for a herniated disk (95%). I could barely walk and not leave my house by surgery. I can say surgery was completely a painless process due to his excellent work and proper medication. I woke up free from the leg pain that had plagued me for 5 mo. and able to walk without a problem. Two weeks after surgery I am walking 1 mi. once a day and plan to increase that soon. He was wonderful and the surgery a literal God-send to my quality of life. My biggest problem has been reminding myself I just had surgery and to take it easy! Wonderful surgeoon!

I first met Dr Musante in 2004 when i was having back pain from a pars defect and pinched sciatic nerve L5-S1. He was very honest and recommended non-surgical techniques before jumping to surgery, for a Doctor that is a surgeon, i was elated that he didn't want to do surgery. When i started having similar, albeit much worse pain in 2012, i searched for the same doctor i had seen in 2004 which was Dr Musante. He worked with me for approximately 2 years through, pain medications and spinal injections. Ultimately i decided that i wanted to have the surgery, and had it done on June 20, 2014. I left the hospital in less than 24 hours after surgery, (my choice, but did have to meet criteria to leave) i wanted to be home. I was out of work for 2 weeks initially, after not following the doctors work restrictions i wound up being out for 6 weeks (wifes orders). Did i mention i do commercial plumbing, i now can do just about everything i did before. There are some days i dont even think about the surgery and the pain that i no longer have. Thank You Dr Musante for giving me my life back.

I suffered from severe pain in my left leg from a pinched nerve, I saw Dr. Musante and after my exam was complete he explained to me the cause and treatment options. I followed his advice and had a great recovery from my back surgery, his follow up with me was excellent. Dr. Musante exam was very complete, I also had a pinched nerve in my neck, Dr. Musante told me that in time I would need to address this and he went over my options, two years later he was right I needed surgery and again Dr. Musante performed the surgery and my recovery was excellent. I would highly recommend Dr. Musante for spinal surgery.

Musante told me I was lucky he would even see me for back pain because most doctors won't b/c it is so common. He told me I had some arthritis and to come back in 30 yrs if I still had pain. I had to ask for PT myself. Went to Duke, got an MRI (3 herniated disc and lateral recess stenosis in both hips) and a dr. who cared.
