Had a 90 second phone appointment with him after he received my MRI results, that had been read by a renowned radiologist who had diagnosed “severe spinal stenosis”. During this brief appointment, Dr. Yen said it was mild and didn’t require surgery. Referred me to KOPI so that he could collected a referring doctor a fee every time I had an appointment, as opposed to a one time surgical fee. I was examined by Dr. Yach during my intake appointment. Dr. Yach tapped my legs a bit and had me push against him with my feet etc. He then said “If Dr. Ten days it’s mild, I’m not going to disagree with him.” Several MRI reports and 5 years later, the diagnosis by each attending radiologist is still as well as more than one physician is “severe spinal stenosis”. My legs have deteriorated and I’m in constant pain. My last appointment at KOPI I was told that there was so much going on in my spine that they didn’t know what to do for me. So they froze the nerves in my spine, which last three days. Haven’t able to walk more than a few meters for a week now or lay down to sleep for two days now because it pinches the nerves so bad I writhe in pain. So, I’ve finally decided to write a review. My review - he is a useless individual.

Highly competent. Amazing care. I dreaded having surgery for years but finally got my courage up and am now back to my regular activities. I am very grateful for your care, Dr. Yen. Harold P.

Competent surgeon. No complaints from me. A bit of a dry sense of humour but I found him very kind

I had a totally different experience than the reviewer below. I found Dr. Yen to be very soft spoken and compassionate when discussing my back problems. Unfortunately, he didn't feel that surgery would help my problem but I found he spent a lot of time explaining things to me. Nora H.

We had a very negative and rude experience with this guy. He gave my wife a very negative neurologist type of diagnosis and that is not his field at all. He just seemed to love to be the bearer of bad news without any testing at all. I could've made the same diagnosis and iam not a doctor. He then left the room, no good bye or sorry about the news. He almost seemed like he enjoyed giving us unverified fatal news. He should not be practicing medicine to this degree in my opinion. If I ever have to go to this Kingston hospital for an evaluation, please just drop me off at a bar where a drunken patron could give me the diagnosis but would probably at least have a bit if sympathy.

This was the second time I saw Dr. Yen. The first time was over two years ago when he gave me the papers to complete if I should decide to have back surgery. I spent two years dithering with my mobility decreasing, the pain increasing and my consumption of narcotics growing alarmingly. In the end I asked to be referred to him again. Dr Yen saw me and spent a considerable amount of time with me explaining the MID and showing what the surgery would entail. He also had me walk and was concerned that I listed to one side and wobbled as I walked. He immediately sent me for an x-ray to see whether I needed a hip replacement also and explained the hip x-ray to me. He answered my questions patiently. I have decided to go ahead with the surgery and hope for a good result, although he cautioned I would probably still have some pain although my range of motion would be better.

Delightful highly experienced surgeon. On time, put us at ease and took as long as we needed to show what the problem was from MRI scans. Reassured us no surgery necessary and that issue would resolve itself naturally (subsequently confirmed by retired medical friend). Open about use of medication to provide temporary pain relief. Excellent experience on all fronts.

Super pleased with my spine surgery. Back pain is much relieved. I found Dr. Yen explained things well. Nurses told he has a top notch reputation. They enjoy working with him. I'm just glad to be going back to work after months off. Frank R
