Dr. Yen and all his staff, including reception & others on the surgical team, were excellent. I saw Dr. Yen as a second opinion after a terrible experience with a different surgeon. I was expecting a resident to do all the work, but I was surprised when only Dr. Yen came into the assessment room. He spent at least 20 minutes one on one with me, going over imaging, and evaluating. He suggested surgery and I agreed. To my surprise, my surgery was actually moved sooner, rather than being cancelled due to COVID. The day of surgery was great, and I’m very pleased. I enjoyed his personality and sense of humour. Thanks for everything!

I had a consult with Dr. Yen in late June 2021. I found him to be forthright, knowledgeable and informative in describing my condition from the MRI results. As a result I elected to have disectomy surgery on my L3, L4 to alleviate the constant pain and leg failure. I am happy to report the pain was gone immediately after the surgery and my leg failure due to a pinched nerve continues to improve. I would recommend Dr. Yen to a friend without hesitation. Thank you Dr. Yen and your awesome staff.

Many patients posted their gratitude to Dr. Yen for he had changed their lives for the better; I am happy for them and I admire the doctor’s talent. However, there were other patients who did not experience the same luck; and sadly, I was one of the unlucky. He saw me last year, and I have now had a chance to read his report to my family doctor. I feel despaired to read: “She indicates that she has not fallen; however, her legs do appear weak when she tries to run any distance.” On the contrary, I told Dr. Yen’s assistant (who took my information and passed it on to him): “My legs feel weak. When I stand for approximately 10 minutes, my knees get buckled but I do not fall down; however, when I run, I fall down.” I now do not know whether or not his decision – no surgery—is best for me. He also wrote: “We had a lengthy discussion with Ms. (my last-name) in clinic today regarding her symptoms.” This information is also wrong: After his assistant spending between 10 and 15 minutes with me, he saw me for approximately 5 minutes (asking me 1 question, observing my gait, skimming my MRI image, and announcing his decision). I spent approximately 1 hour in the patient's room waiting for him and his assistant to come to see me. I have no reason to think that he did not want to be helpful; I guess it is my tough luck that I have to live with my spinal disease.

Absolutely amazing physician. His surgery on my back has given me my life back. Can't thank him enough. You have to see the residents that are working with him but he always supervises them closely.

He advised me against having back surgery. Told me it was unlikely to relieve my pain and that I was at very high risk of surgical complications due to my age and other medical problems. It wasn't the news I wanted to hear but I have to respect a physician who is so honest and forth right. I found he took the time to explain things well to my wife and me.

Saw this doctor several years ago. My history was interrupted, he bad mouthed by pain doctor and said the normal pain treatments would do. If he had taken the time to do any new testing he would have found that my bulging discs had herniated since the last MRI. You wait a long time to see these doctors and he has given me another 3 years of extreme difficulties waiting to see a new doctor during a pandemic. Thanks to horrible doctors like him I'm still on disability, severly depressed and, unable to work and having severe financial difficulties, like being unable to replace a leaking roof in my home. Find a more caring doctor.
