He failed me as a patient. I put my life in his hands and came very close to loosing my life. If I’d wasn’t for my family’s screaming and being excepted to a different hospital I would not be here to complain 🙈

Second time having seen Dr Wang, and always am greeted in person and over the phone kind and courteously by his staff. Let's face it, the man has a crappy job (literally), however everyone is so accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful in the process. He's matter-of-fact when it comes to information, causes, symptoms, condition which I can understand some may find abrupt - he doesn't beat around the bush or sugar coat it. He doesn't speak down to you or attempt to speak over your head either, straight facts. Same with solutions - and to be honest, I can understand his frustration. Some who go in having read all they possibly can online to self diagnose whatever they think they have, and how they'll treat it, not wanting to listen to what he's saying or suggesting for treatment (he did go to medical school, for how many years, for a reason).

I had a very difficult experience with Dr. Wang. On anonymous review websites, it is easy for anyone to come on and lambast someone. So first, let me say, that is not what I am interested in doing. I do not believe Dr. Wang is a terrible person or an evil doctor. I believe he is following his training regarding surgery and prescription medicine, although with a bit of an arrogant attitude. I also do not expect any doctor to be perfect and have all the answers, even though there is institutional pressure to do so, and a cultural expectation from patients for doctors to magically cure their health problems. The training Western doctors receive is designed to remedy patients’ symptoms through surgeries or drugs, they are not trained to problem solve to find and treat the root cause of the patients problems. In my experience with Dr. Wang he was not interested in listening to me as a patient and even hearing a list of current symptoms. This led to a misdiagnosis which endangered my health and caused long term consequences. In addition, he displayed a very poor bedside manner and lacked insight into the human condition. At the end of a lengthy appointment where he fully understood I was having 25-30+ bowel movements a day, he asked “So how has this affected your life? Are you able to function and go out and be social?” I was dumbfounded by the stupidity of the question. I wanted to say “If you were shitting 25-30 times a day, do you think you’d be able to see patients and do surgeries?” I can also identify 100% with the young lady who wrote the lengthy review about his lack of logic. I believe Dr. Wang would do much better as a doctor if he listened to the patient, if he was open to working with other health care professionals and if he developed empathy and basic logic. I am considering writing the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons. I do not want to destroy his career or hurt his practice. My hope is that an accountability institute will help him rethink how he is conducting himself as a health care professional. I would encourage any of you who have had similar difficult experiences to write the College as well.
