Good Afternoon, my comments to this hospital are that of both good and bad. The overall experiences I have had with The Brantford General Hospital have been very good. I myself have had to use the emergency services over the years. From that I have met and received proper medical help due to my Crohn's Disease, Dr. Baxter (Gastroenterologist - specialist) now since retired. I am so thankful and grateful for him having been in my life. I am also so thankful for those at the BGH back in 2008 my son's life was saved!!in a very big way, a young man of 15 who had to be resuscitated twice. And through the years, there have been times, beyond those moments. And so I just want to thank you for that. Now my comment as of today and my experience from just this past week, is not that of a happy one to me. Twice i was into emergency, first was set to go in that a bed in MH was available for me due to mental health issues (overload of others baggage is what it was)(but no one takes the time to find out)(having been in two marriages over 27 years with very sociopathic narcissistic men) So when i was in the emergency and was able to see the psychiatrist, somehow over the time seen i was told by her that the bed was no longer available due to the emergency being overly busy, which it was. My problem with that, is that she lied and told the police that she had said there was a bed available ( which there had been) until she told me it was no longer available due to having been given to someone else. So once again the next day I was then taken back and escorted by the police, officers Roginy and Nancy, and I thank you both. But, once again, it was not that i did not receive a bed, I did, it was now the nurse who came into the room i was in and immediately started to bully, demand respect, force her feeling that she has to be this way with me, and when I asked what medication she was giving me, and was reciprocated with such a nasty answer in her attitude, to me, it was disrespect with an your going to do as I say!!!! I do have a right to know what medication I am taking, I am someone who is quite knowledgeable of medications health issues etc. due to my own health issues for years, as well had started a medical transcription course that i kept a 92% average on 5 months of sleep deprivation, but sadly could not keep up anymore due to health being depleted by yet again, another marriage breakdown. And she was no professional in the proper help at that, someone coming at a person who is so overwhelmed, in that manner does not help in any way whatsoever, yes I agree there are those that need a forceful nudge, but when asked why I'm there and before I can even say anything that makes sense, there it is exactly why!! its once again being put on me, because of the way I had been in that moment that made it clear to her that i was the problem, and so of course it was no help at all, I did however get a sleep, and I thank you for that. But did leave in the end, and that nurse was very unprofessional when shes sitting down the hall as i leave after asking about something that had been removed, and her response yelling down the hall at me what they had done with it, I will not go into detail of what was said in the way it was, but a huge problem in attitude towards those that may need mental health help, seem to make those such as her think people who need such help are to be treated in such a manner because after all they are what??? mentally impossible to fix and so therefore deserve nothing more than the attitude of someone of the profession who feels they are better than the one needing the help, that nurse has left a bad taste in my mouth that is how she made me feel. Through the years my rating of the BGH is that of very good. The two issues I have just mentioned really are the only two bad experiences, but at this point in my life they are the most important at this time. And how is it that on MH there is solitary available for those that are disruptive etc. where one can go so as to not disturb other patients, but not available for those that are in there voluntary, it is exactly what I needed, but sadly again unavailable to me, I don't understand, and when I did ask I never did receive a proper answer, again. Thank you for all you have done over the years for me and my family, both my children being born at the hospital. My overall rating is very good. I also want to point out too, that any appointments I have ever had through the hospital, that of MRI/colonoscopy etc. all very good, never any problems. Thank you

I just had a very enjoyable experience at the BGH today. I was scheduled for a mammogram at 1:30 pm and got there at 1:15 pm...they took me in early and I was out by 1:30pm. Big bonus was when I went to pay my parking ticket it was ZERO dollars because I must have not been in there long enough. I must say I have always had excellent service at this hospital. I have had surgery there multiple times and lots of appointments and tests and have always been happy with the service . Great hospital as far as I am concerned!!!!
Go to ER twice in a week in serious pain , first time hooked up to if and given pain meds and released go back 3 days later and am told I was constipated and given a prescription for laxatives...rhe pain was crazy bad ...finally family doctor sent me for CT scan ..i had a large kidney stone trapped and causing some bad swelling...went to Hamilton general and got taken care of and fixed up
My gf was scheduled day surgery for a cyst in her wrist. Only a 20 min surgery. Was sent home the first time because something else came up after waiting 5 hours. No one told her what happened till last minute . She re scheduled two weeks later and the same thing is happening. We got here for a 11:30 surgery and it's 1:20pm
Bring back Dr's who care every time you go there you always have a different Dr, Must be the Government with a make shift idea to think they are. Find a Good Dr. Not a group of them. I found one so the Dr;s get paid whether you show up or not. Think about it. I rate this place -1
I've never had a good experience at this hospital but this last one has been the worst. My mom was admitted and when they were finally ready to discharge her, the doctor decided he wanted to do a cat scan to check for blood clots. They moved my mom to the pediatrics unit in a room with 2 other people even though her insurance covers a private room. Her bed is broken. It took hours for the nurses on the pediatric floor to get her chart even though she was previously just one floor up. When she was supposed to get her ct scan she was told the machine was broken but she'd have it soon. 24 hours later we were told it would be yet another day before it was up and running. When we asked to do it as an outpatient scan they said yes then decided she should have an ultrasound instead. When we asked about wait times, we were told their computer system doesn't even allow staff to see wait times. I do not blame the nurses and doctors, this is 100% the fault of management and government cut backs. If I could give a zero rating for value, services and facilities I would.
