Dr. Perkari ruined my health and my life. I had a terrible case of mononucelosis many years ago when I was in my early 20s. When I went over my symptoms with Dr. Perkari and told her that I thought I had mono, she laughed and said I was “exaggerating” about how sick I was, and she said (without having tested me) that I did not have mono. I had been going to her since I was a kid and had never lied or exaggerated to her about anything, so there was no reason for her to accuse me of doing so that day. I begged her to test me for mono, and the test came back positive. Dr. Perkari was surprised. She noted that my active antibody levels showed that it was a severe case. She prescribed ampicillin and told me to take it to stave off a strep throat. After two doses, I broke out in a horrendous raised, red, itchy rash from head to toe, and the skin underneath the rash and the whites of my eyes turned yellow because my liver had started to shut down. My family called Dr. Perkari to describe what was going on, and she told them that I might have encephalitis. They rushed me to the hospital, where I was put in an isolated room for people with infectious diseases (the ER staff saw my rash and thought I might have something contagious). Within seconds of looking at me, a specialist figured out that I was having an allergic reaction to ampicillin that was causing my organs to shut down. He said that I would have died if I had taken even one more dose. He told me that every doctor should know not to prescribe ampicillin to anyone with an active case of mono because there is a high likelihood of an allergic reaction, even if the person isn’t normally allergic to ampicillin. He said it was common knowledge, and that any doctor who didn’t know that shouldn’t be practicing. I was in the hospital on an IV for three days, and spent another month in bed recovering. I was never the same again. My immune system went haywire, and my life was ruined. I cannot properly express here all the trouble and pain Dr. Perkari’s carelessness has caused me - I would have to write an entire book in order to do so. My biggest regret is that I trusted her, and there is nothing I can do now to change that. My immune system will not tolerate any of the Covid vaccines, but contracting Covid would almost certainly kill me, so my already difficult life has become a lot more frightening since the start of 2020. While everyone is at great risk because of this new virus, my personal chance at protection via a vaccine has been eliminated because of a mistake Dr. Perkari made years ago. Please, do not place your life in her hands.
