Marimikel and her team were incredible. This was my first home birth and I am so glad I did not go to the hospital. The entire experience was incredible. Marimikel taught me valuable lessons about my body and never kept anything from me. I even got to see my placenta! My baby boy came out beautifully and I had a wonderful postpartum recovery. I believe my postpartum recovery was wonderful because Marimikel visits 3-4 times after the birth and is always available by phone. As someone who has had a hospital birth and now a home birth, if you are thinking of having your baby at home, do it. The hospital is for people who are sick and dying. Giving birth is not an illness, it is a truly wonderful experience, especially when you are not surrounded by machines and people you don't know but the people you love and that you have chosen to be present. I had an awesome experience with Marimikel for my first (only) childbirth. It was a home birth and I felt so safe and thankful we chose her. She is the most experienced midwife in Texas, and it shows. She spent quality time checking out my overall wellness--physically, mentally, and emotionally. After the birth, I called her many times with questions and she was patient and extremely helpful. She made me feel at ease before, during and after the birth. In a checkup for my newborn she caught something in my son that we needed to get checked out with a medical doctor. Every doctor we've seen told us how impressed they were that our midwife caught it so early. Several of them said, you would really have to know children and have a lot of experience to have noticed it in a 3 week old. That was huge in treating him early. Personalities are important and everyone should find a midwife they are comfortable with. If you want a careful, thorough midwife, then I highly recommend her.

Marimikel Potter is an amazing midwife with lots of experience. We've had two home births attended by her and could not be more pleased with the personalized service she provides. She comes to your home after the birth for follow up visits so you don't have to drive your newborn anywhere or bring them to dr. offices full of germs. She is loving, generous, kind and full of warmth. We highly recommend her!
