One of the best medical professionals I've ever dealt with. Didn't dumb it down, and talked openly about risks. I was impressed.

I had a horrible earache about 6 years ago which turned out to be an earwax buildup. Apparently I have small, irregular shaped ear canals and wax was building up so much it was pressing on my eardrums. Since then I saw Dr. Pabbies 4, maybe 5 times. He would clean out my ears using only what I could describe as instruments of torture. Haha, actually he was good and I'm slightly kidding. I felt safe even though his sharp "mini ice pick" and "mini vacuum" and camera were all within mm's of my eardrum. Did it hurt? Yes at times it genuinely really did but usually I would describe it as milder.
My issue is the following. The last time I saw him I had my routine ear cleaning (this was during covid) and a day later my ear began really aching. It bothered me enough that I became concerned something was wrong and it seemed strange that it would hurt so much just after a cleaning. This had never happened before. I called the clinic and he wasn't able to see me. They prescribed me eardrops based on my concerns over the phone. This did not help, in fact the pain became worse. Not as bad as the first time where I laid in bed years before, but bad enough I was constantly thinking about it. Fortunately I had a doctor's visit with my regular doctor a day or so later. I told him what happened and he took one look in my ear and asked me, "You just had your ears cleaned"? I assured him yes and he was a little blown away. He said my eardrum was reddened and there was quite a bit of wax. Despite my protests (and secretly thoughts that my family doctor would just make it worse as he wasn't a specialist) he talked me into having my ears flushed. I had never had this done before. I was appalled at how much earwax came out of my ear that was flushed and had just been cleaned by Dr.Pabbies. I'm talking LOTS! And trust me, I've seen ears cleaned before. So essentially Dr.Pabbies, for whatever reason, hadn't cleaned them effectively enough and also they were beginning to be infected, or at the minimum, inflamed, by the residue left from his cleaning. I am not a physician and can't say why this happened or what exactly happened but I will say the flush was much more effective and I wasn't very happy that I had been in so much pain without a response from him. I almost felt like he did a half decent job just to bill me. But I hope that isn't the case.
I can't speak to his skills but I will say he never hurt me, did provide me lots of info, and I would trust him as much as I could if I had to return. Mistakes can be made and this wasn't significant. I think he should have seen me when I made my initial complaint to diagnose what was wrong. And I also think if my ears were flushed so easily, he should have just told me to get that done instead of going through a lengthy and uncomfortable alternative year after year.

I'm quite late giving this rating. I saw Dr. Pabbies in 2016. After running the appropriate tests, he met with me and explained the surgery that was needed and exactly why. In December 2016 he removed half of my thyroid. I felt his genuine concern for my well being while he fully supported decisions I was making regarding my surgery and care. Even if he didn't agree with me. I appreciate his skill and how he uses it to help and support his patients. Because of my experience with him, I definitely recommend him. Thank you Dr. Pabbies.

I would NOT recommend this doctor. He was in a big rush and did not listen to my concerns at all.

I have seen Dr.Pabbies a few time in the past couple years concerning a deviated septum, he was very knowledgeable and did his best to give me every option considering I was underage and septoplasties tend to not be performed on individuals under 18. I just recently saw him again and he came completely honest about my case becoming complex and how he didn’t believe he was capable of fixing everything and referred me to a plastic surgeon for the surgery. He usually runs a little behind, but that’s not uncommon in the Canadian healthcare system. Overall a very humble, knowledgeable, and charismatic doctor.

He understood my situation very well, and explained why my symptoms were happening. Even drew sketches to explain things. His down to earth recommendations have been a blessing to me so far for 4 years!

I was very pleased with my surgery. He repaired a deviated septum and removed polyps. I wish I had done it years ago.

He was running 1 hour late, unsure of why I was there and said there's nothing possible at the moment. Referred me to a Snoring specialist though my level 1 sleep test said I didn't snore. Wanted to see me again in a year but his receptionist was already clocked out so I will have to phone at a later time.
