Biography
Dr. Nevin Shrimanker completed his training as an anesthesiologist at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2008. He then went on to complete his interventional pain management fellowship at Carolina Pain Institute in Winston Salem, NC - one of the top fellowship training programs in the nation. Dr. Shrimanker joined Carolina Pain Consultants in 2009 and is Medical Director of the Duke Raleigh Pain Clinic. He lectured to nurse anesthesia students as well as the nursing floors and surgical services at Duke Raleigh Hospital about pain treatment strategies and creating effective and safe pain care plans. Dr. Shrimanker has focused on trying to bring new procedures and treatments to this area. He was the first physician in Wake County to do the MILD procedure (a percutaneous minimally invasive lumbar decompression surgery) and has utilized radiofrequency procedures for chronic knee and hip pain. He also has taken an interest in ultrasound technology to provide a new avenue for pain treatment possibilities. He has travelled to Leon, Nicaragua for a medical mission trip and worked to provide anesthesia care for orthopedic patients as well as administer regional pain blocks to reduce post-operative pain. Outside of his daily clinical care, he enjoys the outdoors and fishing.
