Frequently cancelled appointments, couldn't even remember our names after five sessions. Zero help for our marriage. Look elsewhere!!

Dr Mijal was too scared of my emotionally abusive husband to call a spade a spade and speak up. She got small and trembly in his presence, which I understand because I frequently felt the same way around him. At the time, I didn’t yet realize that there was a name for his behavior. It took an incredible book by Lundy Bancroft (Why Does He Do That?) to help me put it all together. In the meantime, Dr Mijal treated us like we were just having commmincation issues. She could tell he was mentally ill, and maybe could even see that he was abusive, but she said nothing. She also wouldn’t communicate with my therapist even though I signed a release and asked her to multiple times. Each time she said she would, and then never did. It was so strange.
