I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone. My mother had a herniated umbilical (belly button) and she went in for outpatient surgery at Long Beach Memorial. The next day she was in alot of pain and there was fluid draining from the wound site. I called the doctor and he said this was normal. The next week she went in for a follow up visit and he wasn't even there! His assistant checked her wound and said it seemed o.k. even though we told her that there was fluid drainage and she had pain in her abdomen. The next morning I went to change the dressing and my mom was unresponsive. I had to call 911 and she was transported to the hospital where she remained for nearly a month. She was in the ICU in very critical condition for nearly two weeks. She had a massive infection (Sepsis) that nearly killed her. The doctor at the hospital said that the infection was from the surgery.

I am drafting this letter with great appreciation for the excellent care that I have been receiving from Dr. Sandy Witzling and his hard working staff. After attempting and failing to obtain, what I believe to be, a high level of care in my home town; I decided that it was necessary to travel almost three hours, each way, in order to receive such care. Dr. Witzling has provided me with exceptional services and has managed to keep me calm and collected throughout this journey. I highly recommend utilizing Dr. Witzling professional services to everyone.

Doc Witzling was recommended by a friend as I was hopeless when other physicians could not figure out what was wrong with me. He spent a great deal of time over a couple of visits to diagnose me when two other surgeons could not figure out what was wrong. When it came time for surgery, I was confident in his abilities and it was a success. If not him, I do not believe I would be alive to write this review. He is a caring, considerate physician with a great deal of knowledge and I am blessed to have been referred to him.

Dr. Witzling has treated me and my family (me, mother, father, godson) for years and I wouldn't recommend anyone else. He is a great, caring surgeon unlike no other. Of course his waiting room is full--everyone wants to see him because we know he is the best. I rather wait a few extra minutes to see a truly gifted surgeon--this is health we're talking about! I recommend him to everyone. Also, his staff is nice too...I know they have been with him for many, many years (3 of them were there when I first became a patient in '99)

Inconsiderate MD, who books all his patients at the same time. Waiting room was full with patient with some out in the hall and forced to sit on the floor. Excessive wait to find the treatment rooms were filthy and poor infection control technique. I regret the whole experience and will never go back.
