He operated. Didn't perform the intention of the surgery. Missed signs of infection post-surgery. She died.

When you are pushing 400 pounds, like I was, life sucks. I failed miserably for years at losing weight and dieting. My marriage was falling apart, my parents were embarrassed of me, and I was short-tempered with my children. It was extremely difficult to climb up my stairs or to tie my shoes. I could no longer look in the mirror because I HATED myself. Suicide went through my mind on a daily basis. I had turned down the thought of gastric bypass surgery in the past because I thought gastric bypass, or any bariatric surgery, would give me a life of chronic vomiting and/or diarrhea. Plus, I read about many people re-gaining the weight. Well, everything changed when I hit my rock bottom. I could barely walk. Every step was agony. That’s when I decided I WANTED GASTRIC BYPASS, EVEN WITH ALL THE VOMITING AND DIARRHEA. I didn’t care. I was either going to get this surgery or I wanted to end my life. I found Dr. Frantzides online and met with him. Our first meeting was over 2 hours long! He was such a genuine and compassionate man. He explained so many aspects of the surgery, but most importantly he explained why he stands out from the rest. Within 4 weeks of our 1st meeting, (and all the appropriate tests, bloodwork, EKG’s and x-rays of course) I had Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery. Recovery was fast, but most importantly… I NEVER HAD ANY NAUSEA, STOMACH CRAMPING, VOMITING or DIARRHEA! NOT ONCE. NOTHING. I’m being completely honest. Other than feeling full faster than I used to, I feel like I never had surgery. Dr. Frantzides always preserves the VAGUS NERVE when he re-sections your stomach, and because of this, NONE of his patients get “Dumping Syndrome”. I couldn’t be happier. I have lost over 100 pounds so far in 8 months post-surgery. I’m eating healthy and actually enjoy exercise. My marriage has turned around and I’m finally learning to love myself again. My only complaint is, I wish I had done this years ago. Dr. Frantzides is the best.

I have been diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus (a change in the lining of the esophagus due to long standing uncontrolled GERD which may lead to cancer). I was prescribed an "optimal" dose of a strong (and expensive!) PPI twice a day, modified my diet as well as adjusted my sleeping position to minimize the occurrence of acid reflux. I lived a pretty poor quality of life, relatively speaking, for about a year. Not being able to eat foods that I like, always going to bed hungry and knowing that all this wasn't really keeping acid away from my already "mutating" esophagus anyway was not the way to go. I could not live like that for the rest of my life, I was barely 40 years old!
My wife and I knew that a fundoplication was the best course of action. But only in the right hands. From almost a year of reading up on this topic, we found that the success of this procedure is dependent on the experience and the skill of the surgeon and we are thankful that the Lord up above led us to Dr. Frantzides. He is a well studied, knowledgeable and a very skilled surgeon whose office is not too far from us and whose favorite procedure (as he says) is the one I was looking to get done (How lucky is that?). His practice is like no other, there is no long line of people to see him at his office, he is generous with his time and, most importantly, he knows who you are and not just by the information that is in your chart which is very unlike most doctors we know. He is highly regarded by the people in the hospital and he genuinely loves what he does which shows in his work. His assistant Teresa has done an excellent job in taking care of all things non-medical, from setting up the surgery, taking care of the paperwork and even making regular follow up calls to make sure that everything is alright post operatively surely made this procedure headache free. If only this was the way the rest of the country practiced medicine...
I am now just a little over a month post surgery and everything is going well with no major complications and would see Dr. Frantzides one more time in 2 months for a follow up.
I would definitely recommend his service!

Dr. Frantzides took excellent care of me performing 2 major surgeries on me in the same day. He went above and beyond anything I could have expected, and followed up quite frequently after surgery to make sure I was doing ok. A very knowledgeable surgeon and answered all my questions and concerns with strait forward answers. Would I use him again? Of coarse!

We highly recomend dr. Frantzides and his team’s services! He did an excellent surgery for my husband 20 years ago, he never had any further issues from that day. So when it came to my own surgery this past October, I knew I only trusted dr. Frantzides and his team to do it.
From bedside manner, to after hours calls, knowledgeable advice, quick appointments, everything went very smooth.
Very happy with the results! Highly recommend
Thank you Dr. Frantzides! You’re the best

Dr. Frantzides is as good as they get. He’s incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. A pioneer in laparoscopic surgery, he literally “wrote the book” on gastric bypass procedures. I also appreciate his compassion. When I was contemplating surgery, he took almost 2 hours to answer all my questions. Not only did he make me comfortable, but he also addressed my wife’s concerns. We knew before going in that we were in good hands. The surgery went off without a hitch. The experienced surgical team was like a well-oiled machine. After the surgery, Dr. F provided me with his personal cell phone and made himself available 24 hours. That’s right…no answering service, just a direct call to the doctor! And many thanks to Teresa, the kind and caring assistant who kept everything on track from paperwork, insurance, scheduling, questions…you name it! My surgery was a perfect success, and I'm pleased with my results to date.

As an adult, acid reflux dictated what & when I ate, required that I slept w/ acid reducers next to my bed; forced me to develop new sleeping positions & I was constantly looking of the ‘next new thing’ to take care of the worsening acid in my throat. I tried every new RX, natural remedy & reviewed all of the material written on the subject, hoping that something would make me feel better & provide a cure. Surgical suggestions were always a consideration but w/ poor statistics for long term success that did not impress me. Still it would come…
In the past few years, a chronic cough developed. I started telling people that I have severe allergies that makes me cough- just to make them feel more comfortable that I was not spreading a virus. Before surgery, I developed worsening swallowing issues & increased frequency of choking & regurgitation of undigested food. I would feel like there was a large knot in my throat. Food would not go down, & often would come back up. The thought of choking would wash over me. I would try to ascertain whether my meal would stay down or not. If it didn’t stay down, I would forgo eating at that time & when I could finally get something to stay down, I would gorge because I was so hungry. I developed cough incontinence. Exercising was extremely uncomfortable because I developed a type of asthma that comes from GERD. It is hard to exercise when you can’t breathe. Forget downward facing dog or any yoga moves! I mean, who wants to throw up on their yoga mat! Then again, who has the energy to exercise when you wake up in the middle of the night, coughing & w/ a burning pain in your throat? Oh- & I am single. Forget about actively dating....

Looking at aging, I was very concerned w/ how acid reflux had & would affect me physically & socially. Medications were not helping, the change in diet was not effective, I was putting on weight, not sleeping well & I was very worried. I was not doing any of the things that I should: exercising, eating properly, socializing, experiencing live entertainment & cultural events, traveling- so many things had been affected & I was fed up! I started to educate myself. National Institutes of Health, Mayo Clinic, & the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, physicians & nutritionists. I read text books & talked to medical professional. I watched videos, I read pharma- studies. I am a natural researcher. I looked critically at my specific conditions, evaluated what was important to me & determined what I would want as the supreme outcome. Once perfectly clear w/ what I identified as my goals, I researched procedures & reviewed statistics of said procedures & determined what would most likely satisfy me.

I understood that I would need a multiple-procedure surgery. Now, to find the right & most qualified doctor. I set about looking at text books & reading peer-reviewed white papers written by doctors to find those that reflected how I felt about a surgical intervention of my conditions. I searched & interviewed doctors & made it clear what my goals were. I interviewed Dr. Constantine Frantzides. He was very knowledgeable & generous w/ his time, listened to my concerns & goals, discussed the surgical procedures that he would recommend & reviewed every step of the surgery w/ me. I felt that I would have the highest success rate w/ a surgical intervention for my condition & to meet my goals w/ Dr. Frantzides .

Surgery was March 20, 2017- the day that I will celebrate my life. Incredible to have dealt w/ such pain & discomfort for so many years & to go to sleep one day, laying on a gurney while coughing uncontrollably as the anesthesiologist -Dr. Brad Alexander (also fabulous!) - said ’ Don’t worry, he is a wonderful surgeon’ & in the time it took Dr. Frantzides to use his remarkable gifts of laparoscopic surgery, I was healed.

Surgery was a breeze & Dr Frantzides’ team & the Presence St. Francis Hospital could not have been more helpful. Immediate post-surgical recovery was better than expected & Dr. Alexander personally followed up w/ me to make certain I was comfortable. Teresa, Dr. Frantzides office manager & patient liaison, arranged all aftercare & made certain to educate & review the specifics of how to proceed w/ the new me. Now- 9 months post surgery- I can tell you that I have never been more comfortable & happy, nor well rested & physically fit as an adult. I needed minimal pain relievers for two days post-surgery, & I believe that is why I healed so incredibly well. Positive & confident attitude goes a long way. Understand the difference between pain & simple discomfort is key in healing.

I had the best experience I could have hoped for. I wake every day, amazed that I do not have acid reflux. The surgical approach that Dr. Frantzides & I determined were necessary included esophaegeal modifications & a gastric bypass as well as multiple hernia repairs.

When I saw Dr. Frantzides in consultation, there was instantly no doubt in my mind that he was the one that would fix my giant incisional hernia once and for all. I had multiple open surgeries over the years and thought I needed yet another one, this time It was different because I couldn't find anyone that was willing to do it. Dr. Frantzides welcomed the challenge and he did my surgery laparoscopically. I was told by other surgeons that laparoscopy was not even an option. I'm soo greatful !!!!
