Dr. Vatsala Rao delivered my first baby in 2010. Though she talks less and some people may find her rude, she is very experienced and a good doctor. I had a very complicated labour and finally I could have a natural delivery only because of her expertise. With any other doctor I would have ended up in C-Section.

We moved out of New Jersey few years ago and I just happened to see all these reviews.
Is she not practising any more?

can't belive all these people with negative comments. She is the best Doctor I know and cares about her patients. We had the best overall experience with her and her office.

Dr Rao is an amazing Doctor. Not only did she deliver my two sons, but she delivered My Brother, ME and my two sisters! Which means she has had YEARS of experience. She doesn't sit there and tell you what you are supposed to be experiencing because everybody experiences different things during pregnancy. However, she does ask you "do you have any questions or concerns" at the end of every appointment. And if you do, then she answers you patiently and will spend time with you and talk to you if you need to. She is an amazing Doctor at her office AND in the hospital. I rather have someone with experience and who knows what they are doing, than go to some other doctor just because they tell me what I'm supposed to be feeling. You can read a book for that. I highly recommend Dr. Rao and I think she is an awesome Doctor

When I delivered, I had a fever. she put me on IV and then vanished until the day I was discharged. I was uncomfortable and in terrible pain all through. Then she comes in and questions me "Why are u still on IV?" I gave her a "U tell me" kinda look and then she smiles and walks away. Yes - she is that HORRIBLE. The hospital staff were puzzled as to why I was on IV, but they could never reach her and neither could they remove the IV without her permission. I will NEVER recommend her to anyone. INHUMAN!!

I cannot believe she's still practicing. Awful - no words to describe! If you want to ask a question, understand what's going on with your health (or that of your baby) or get any response (never mind an educated one), you'll be very disappointed with this doctor. I used to call her Speedy Gonzalez. She probably spends 2.5 minutes with you (including exam) and bolts out. I'm one of the least touchy-feely people I know and I couldn't even stomach her cold and uninterested approach. Certainly she didn't listen to me - she was too busy running around.

I would never ever recommend this doctor to anyone. She believes in one line answers.. you ask her anything she will never explain anything in detail. I had my first miscarriage and she was not at all helpful.. when me and my husband went to her after the miscarriage.. she comes in with the dopler device.. she prescribed me tablets with DHA when I dont need it now as i am not pregnant.. please dont go to this doctor.. you might want to go to a doctor who does more detail diagnosis and works closely with you..

Dr Rao is a very good doctor. She is knowledgable and quick. She doesn't like to waste time in chit chat. I used her for both of my babies and will continue to use her.

I started bleeding when I was 34 weeks pregnant,I was very much concerned about the baby .I called the doctor she told me to come at her office and shouted at me saying that I am bothering her with the phone call. The bleeding again started after a week but I was very much hesitant to call her finally when I started getting labor contractions I called her, she wasn't there so the on call doctor asked me to go to the hospital when I went there I had already dilated and the baby was delivered on the same day.I won't recommend this doctor to anyone I had a really very bad experience with her
