dr. Ellenbogen did an Arnold chiari Malfomation surgery on my daughter. Everything went wonderfully. He explained everything so well and made us feel very comfortable with our situation. He is kind and patient. I am very grateful for him and his team.

Worst bedside manner we’ve ever experienced during an initial visit by this so called doctor. Typical surgeons’ brash and holier-than-thou image when speaking to parents. No doctors gowns, dressed in 3 piece suit with his fancy blinging gold watch on his wrist, gum chewing and his resident following him around like a mini-Ellenbogen-wannabe and she too chewing gum.
Took my 4 yr old to Boston Children’s instead to see Michael Scott (and Ed Smith, both performed surgery one side each on my child’s brain) where/whom Richard Ellenbogen supposedly studied under. Ellenbogen needs to learn to be more humble and approachable to patients and parents rather than treating them like revenue generating customers that fatten his pockets.

Dr Ellenbogen has operated on me a total of 7 times, for my condition of hydrocephalus that I was born with. He’s very knowledgeable, very helpful, and explains details to a great extent.

Dr. Ellenbogen did my daughters Chiari decompression surgery three months ago and she did very well. She has to have another surgery due to an accident she had and we will be seeing him again for the surgery. He was very knowledgeable about her condition. He was very direct and to the point. I would recommend him to anyone. He was amazing with my daughter and listened to what she had to say about how she felt. We have to travel from billings, montana to seattle to see but the trip is well worth the care we recieve from him.

Dr. Ellenbogen is the most compassionate doctor I have ever met. He has done amazing things such as donate his time to operate and save a baby gorilla at the zoo. He was able to diagnose me and find me a specialist to help my specific problems. He is AMAZING

Dr. Ellenbogen show a geniune concern for my 9 year old son. He called me the day that I sent him an email. We had to travel to Seattle from Albuquerque to see him and to have the surgery. He found a fusion of C1 to the base of the skull which he corrected. He answered our questions promptly and took the time to explain the MRI's so we understood what was happening to our son. Thanks to Dr. Ellenbogen my son is a happy child again.

The doctor was extremely compassionate and spent a great deal of time with me, but ultimately what he told me and what he wrote in my chart were completely different. Now I'm still waiting 3 months later for a referral for followup, when he told me I needed "urgent intervention to stabalize my condition". I have placed many calls to the coodinator who keeps telling me it's being "taken care of". Also, since he did not write in my chart what he told me, SSI and vocational rehab have the wrong information which endangers my benefits. I left thinking he was the best doctor in the world, now I feel like I've been abandoned.
