I really needed my gums checked as I felt something was stuck in them, and I couldn't get it out. Dr. Varela saw me the next day and did a thorough exam. He showed me the X-ray of the area, discussed the X-ray, discussed possible reasons for the pain as my gums were in good shape, and made sure I understood before I left the office. He's one of the few periodontists who actually listened to my concerns and took time to discuss each one. I completely trust him. Wonderful office staff, too.
