Took benzodiazepines I had been on for 10 years away cold turkey. Condescending. Told me to get a book about being happy because my depression is, in his opinion, situational even though I’ve been hospitalized 3x for suicide attempts. Tried to test you to see if you’re lying by asking how my PTSD is. Refers to an app to learn breathing and prescribes an antihistamine for panic attacks. I ended up with him by default after my amazing psychiatrist retired and I’ve been depressed ever since. Ineffective med changes and will only see you every 3-6 mos. Barely knows me; will talk maybe 5-10 minutes. If you want a psychiatrist who doesn’t believe in real meds, he’s for you. Makes you wait for prescription refills for days. Cancels appts and then you’re scheduled 3-6 mos later. Doesn’t make you feel important when you see him 2-3x a year when my previous psychiatrist would see me every month when doing med changes and even on Saturday if I needed him. I was in major crisis and when I asked for his help, he said get some insurance and go to a rehab or long term care facility. Didn’t see me; put it off on his rude and unprofessional nurse practitioner who just went down a list of meds I had or hadn’t tried when she didn’t know me at all. Left her office to see him twiddling his thumbs without a patient in the entire building.
