One of the best geriatricians in the south. Short & to the point, but his knowledge is amazing. He is thorough and cares about his patients. He called & spoke with our family for almost an hour about a serious surgery my father was facing. He does not sugar-coat things which sometimes can be misinterpreted to be non-caring. We hold him in high trust with the health of our mother & father. He may not always have the best bedside manner and does not like insurance companies, but his primary interest is with the patient. I prefer knowledge & experience over bedside manner especially when dealing with elderly patients. I can strongly recommend this physician.

Dr. Michael C. Collins is the Medical Director at The Oaks on Parkwood, a retirement facility owned & operated by Noland Health Services in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also the Doctor for most of the patients who reside at The Orchard,which is the Memory Care Building. He misdiagnosed my mother as having "congestive heart failure" and let her lie in bed for 16 hours with oxygen(while family was en route) His recommendation was to call Hospice ~ family was told by Dr. Collins this was the end of her life.When the Hospice nurse arrived, she informed the family that she could not admit her because there was no documentation to indicate a terminal illness and to call an ambulance ~ it looked like pneumonia . She was taken to Brookwood Hospital. Tests there revealed there was no Heart Problem and she did not have congestive heart failure. She did have pneumonia.Records indicated that she had been given 2 doses of 25mg Phenergan.The ER Doctor indicated this was not appropriate.
