When I lived there I went to her and she was the absolute best! She was always so kind and helpful. Her knowledge came not only through education but also life experience. I remember her talking about working my therapy. Thanks to her, I was able to overcome things that had held me back for years. I wish I could have taken her with me when I left. I would highly recommend her!

Dr. Jan is amazing. I have been through some horrible stuff in the last year and my world has been turned upside down. I felt better and had clarity about the direction I needed to go from the first visit. She is so easy to talk to and so helpful.

Dr. Hughes dismissed our concerns about our child when we felt she was in crisis. She told our daughter, in front of us, that we were helicopter parents. When we said we thought our daughter needed inpatient care, Dr. Hughes told her that rather than give her the love and attention she needed, we wanted to lock her up with wild animals. She dismissed my daughters suicide note as just a way of getting her feelings out and acted like it was unimportant. We would never recommend her to anyone.

Janice R. Hughes' response
I am sorry that this mother misunderstood my attempts to help her daughter. When I was told by local inpatient facilities that there were no beds available, the family decided they did not want to take her to Atlanta. I felt strongly that work needed to be done to improve her care at home. Mother wasn't able to hear that. I have worked with many girls her age who threaten suicide. I take all of their threats seriously. Some do, indeed, need inpatient care. Others, in my opinion, are signaling a need for a change in family dynamics. This is a difficult age for young people.
