Dr. Buoen treated me for PTSD, Clinical Depression, and a severe anxiety disorder between 1989/90 to 1993 (when I moved out of state). I credit her with handling my life-saving mix of medications with the greatest expertise and intelligence. I was 21-24 years old at the time and had had to drop out of college. It is Dr. Buoen’s incredible compassion that I remember most. She helped me in every effort to get better, and supported my decision to commit myself to a state hospital because while spurts of acute care were certainly helpful, the core emotional/psychological problem wasn’t being addressed. She helped me make that decision, which (unknown to her) turned out to be what I needed. I am doing great now, at 46 years old. Dr. Buoen excelled in her field, and I can’t imagine that she doesn’t still. She was a dedicated doctor who undoubtedly cared for me personally. I absolutely feel very fortunate that she was my psychiatrist back then—I’ve seen many along the way. -KME

Dr Bouen is the best Dr. I have ever seen. She is very intelligent very compassionate. She can understand multiple symptoms and make a comprehensive diagnosis. She understands medications, how they interact and how they will improve your health. She saved my life after a number of life changing events left me severely depressed and feeling hopeless. Both my mental and physical health have greatly improved. Unfortunately, the Director of North Suburban Counseling Center Gretchen Weshe Sherman refuses to take Medicare patients even though I'd been a patient for a year before turning 65 and have supplemental insurance. She doesn't want to do Medicare paperwork. So I am forced to stop seeing Dr. Bouen. I would have to pay cash to continue seeing Dr. Bouen, which I can't afford. Dr. Bouen is a fantastic Dr and I feel discriminated against from contuiing as her patient because of the Clinic Director's uncaring attitude toward those of us on Medicare. Dr. Bouen is a real life saver for many.

She saved my life and my family! She is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate people I have ever met. I have been meeting with her for over 7yrs and I don't think I would be alive today had I gone to another doctor..as so many others can be judgemental and non-professional! If you are hurting, please meet with her and you will be impressed at her genuine level of compassion!
