I'm absolutely shocked to read a review of Dr Chaput that is negative! However- I am not at all surprised to hear of a bad experience with the Scott and White system. As a Temple native you would be hard pressed to find anyone locally that IS happy with S&W (locally nicknamed 'S'it & 'W'ait)! S&W has had a monopoly over healthcare in this town for many years, they know you don't have much choice- and that's how your treated. That said- fortunately there are some truly great DOCTORS working within this terrible system and Dr Chaput is definitely one of the great ones! He is caring, down to earth, a great listener and always makes sure all questions or concerns are addressed. I am having major neck surgery this month and since the patient that left a bad review was only going off a personality clash not surgical skill- I thought my opinion prior to surgery would be just as relevant. I've done my research and am confident Dr Chaput is the right surgeon for my neck surgery and later my lumbar reconstruction.

I am going to completely disagree with other rating here, Dr. Chaput and his staff have been courteous, timely and very helpful. Dr. Chaput is an excellent surgeon, skillful and knowledgeable.
I would definitely recommend him to my friends for spinal surgery.

This Dr. is ridiculous.  Socially he is completely inept.  At one point he used a car warranty analogy in regards to my L5, S1 hurniation.  His secretary is useless and unfortunately when I complained to Patient Services at the Temple, Texas Scott & White, the women claimed she would have someone call me later that day.  This did not occur.  Frustrated and feeling like a pawn of an incredibly inconsiderate system, I changed my insurance and plan to visit different hospitals and doctors in my area.  Some may claim he is a good surgeon and in my case there were no mistakes, however, in my opinion he is a sociopath and a cutter.  You would be wise to avoid this Doctor all together.
