Going through such a horrible experience with Dr. Rao. My dad has stage 4 cancer and all he was requesting was an additional Petscan since he was seemly recovering gradually with his own nutrition and home remedies. Dr. Rao never ecen tried to acknowledge this improvement. His PSA levels dropped from being at almost an 8 to 0.15 and Dr. Rao gave zero acknowledgement. My dad has the insurance to pay for an additional petscan because it had the timing and cause for it and Dr. Rao suggested we find another Dr. If we wanted a second opinion?

When did improving in health ment we had to find another Doctor for another opinion? He offered to refer us to Stanford, but due to that inconvenience of location for us we were forced to try and find something local. Due to the longer waiting times and complications with having to start all over again, we returned with Dr. Rao to revieve the referral and by all means try and get my dad in Stanford as soon as possible. When Dr. Raos staff gave me a call back they just let me know that they fave Dr. Rao the request to reveive referral again and that he just said NO withno expanation and told us to take my dad back to his primary Doctor. This was a shocker and still is for us. Were very dissapointed in the Medical system due to this Doctors actions. I tried doing a Transfer to another Oncologist and to find out Dr. Rao discharged my dad from this location so now my dad can not be seen from any other Oncologist in this location. May god give grace to this Doctor who forgot why he started this career in the first place.

You are here Thanks to these patients who all they desire is health. Questions and concerns should not bother or disturb you in any way as long as they are respecting you as a profesional and health is the optimal goal here. My dads health did not matter to this Doctor please take your loved ones elsewhere.

1. In 2008 my husband, diagnosed with a glioblastoma, was assigned Dr Rao. At one point, during his final actual visit with Dr Rao, I could not understand Dr Rao and asked him to speak more slowly as I was taking notes. He turned to me and asked, rudely, if we wanted to be assigned to another doctor.
2. I called the office before our ultimate last scheduled appt in order to cancel the appt. We had decided to go on hospice care, The phone lines were super busy. When I finally got thru I told the receptionist that we needed to cancel the appt. Before I could even tell her the patients name she said “fine” and hung up. The final billing said that we didn’t not show up for the last appt. There was, however, a postscript stating that the patient had opted for hospice care, so the insurance was not billed fir a missed spot.
3. Dr Rao wanted my husband to have another procedure at St Agnes. I happened to hear the person setting up that call back with St Agnes. Our phone number for St Agnes to call us back to schedule that procedure had been transposed in the permanent file by Dr Rao’s office.
Very disappointed with this care during a horrific time in our lives.
NOTE: Had to fill in ratings even tho several would be rated less than 1 star.

Dr. Rao is very thorough when discussing his treatment plan. He is a great listener and appears to genuinely care for patients. On one occasion he noticed I was in pain because my pelvic region/skin were burned he suggested a topical anesthetic, I did not have to ask. He is very caring, and is willing to refer you to other physicians or specialist to ensure you get the appropriate testing and answers.

Wonderful oncologist/hematologist. Has sent me to outside specialists for consultation on my condition. Answers all my questions and keeps me informed as to what is happening with me and test results and what treatment is needed and why. Follows through with prescriptions called directly to my pharmacist and any referrals. Gives me any reports I request including weekly lab reports. He is a good listener.
