I have been trying to get answers to what has been ailing me for almost 3 years now. I have been sick the entire span of my child's life!! For a long time, I entrusted my health to Dr. Tae Chung in Reston, Virginia. He has been rated a top doctor in the area many years in a row. I have only just come to realize that those accolades were sorely misplaced. He is a "cold" doctor with poor bedside manner. However, this is something I can overlook if you are a great doctor, however, he is not. He is not a good diagnostician and blows his patients off if they don't fit exactly into a square box (like me). He seems to not like the "mystery" illnesses. He laughed at me when I mentioned going to Hopkins for a second opinion and told me (I quote) he wanted to "wait and see what blossomed" with my illness and that my symptoms were not "that bad". In my case, this may have meant waiting for cancer to "blossom" throughout my body. I would not recommend this man to anyone. STAY AWAY!

This guy is a jerk, and that's all I really need to say. He will belittle you and act like he is too busy/hurried. He completely missed my diagnosis, which wasn't in his area of expertise but still...avoid!

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. He didnt listen to any of my symptoms and said that even though my blood work and urine clearly showed elevated levels that he though it was contaminated and that i was fine. I had to call him to go over my results and after speaking with Dr. Chung who was weird I sent the labs over to my PCP who immediately had me come into the office since the labs clearly showed that I have a kidney infection. I specifity asked Dr. Chung if my kidney was functioning properly and he said YES. If I had believed him and not followed up with my PCP afterward who knows how long it could have gone on. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!

I might find it more useful if the Washingtonian created the 100 worst doctors list. Of course then they would get sued. He is billing up to 4000 dollars in blood work. His phlebotomis (lab blood tech) is splitting the profits with him and that is how they stay in business. The board is looking into him I hear. (He lied about being certified in internal medicine....opps) Yes he will pretend your lab results are normal. he will look at the results he himself drew and say normal about things clearly in the abnormal range. I have been diagnosed by three doctors with three seperate disorders using Dr. Chung's own lab work. Some other Doctors describe Dr. Chung's ignorance on the tests he is ordering to be unlike anything they have ever seen. Dont believe that you are not a text book case just because he says that. I was three text book cases and he missed all of them. Write the board too!!

He was uncompassionate like others said in this posting and didn't listen well to my complaints and he didn't seem to care.First impression I got was like did I do something wrong for you to be such an as***le to me. I didn't get why he was so mean to me and so arrogant, why is he even a doctor? I needed help thats why I'm here but I don't think I'll be getting it. He said to me "well it's not like it's cancer" really that's what he said to me. I'm finding a new doctor as soon as my bloodwork from him comes in and I'll see what he's got to say. He hasn't diagnosed me or told me anything helpful other than it could be rheumatoid arthirtis from my primary doctors initial bloodwork. So he took more bloodwork from me and said nothing but come back in 1 week. After leaving his office I literally cried from hopelessness and the treatment of how he made me feel. Do not see this idiot! He's a waste of a doctorant and don't know why he's even in practice!

Very smart doctor, very professional and caring. I had a very complicated medical disease and he knew my diagnosis after the 2nd visit.

Found Dr. Chung arrogant and most important of all is that he does not pay attention to details. He overlooked readings on my blood work and just replied that everything was fine when it was not! Would never go back to him--unprofessional and unpleasant.

I had a very unusual case, he was extremely helpful in diagnosing it. He spent alot of time with me, and found an extremely good surgeon to refer me to. His staff is very good and professional, I did not have to wait long each time I had an appointment. I did not find him ruder or condescending and felt like he listened to me closely each time.

Rude, doesn't listen to his patients' complaints, doesn't show sympathy. I have a complex condition so I decided to write about it in a one page summary so that I don't forget anything. I said that I summarized my problems on this paper. He flatly said, "I don't wanna see it." He didn't smile once the whole time I saw him. It was as if he wasn't getting paid for his services. Wherever you go in this country customers are treated with respect except in some doctors' offices. He couldn't wait till I left his office. It wasn't as if he had crowds of patients waiting. There were no patients when I came in and one patient when I went out. It was easy to get an appointment with him at any time it seems because he doesn't have many patients. I went home feeling horrible. He has no people skills. It was perhaps a mistake for him to become a doctor. He should have stuck to dealing with machines.
