I was bitterly disappointed with my ankle-surgery and healthcare experience with Dr. Nickisch. Over the course of 6 months he walked out of every appointment abruptly, leaving me with unaddressed concerns and no practicable advice. When I followed up, he would either reply through his staff with one word answers or else refuse to answer any questions at all, saying, "We already went over everything," when we had not. He gaslighted me on several occasions and turned his staff against me, casting me as the anxious or worried type and not worthy of their time and care. Follow-up appointments were always administered mostly through his resident assistants, with only a brief visit by him. The surgery note and some of the surgery was performed by his resident without informing me and he left the surgery early. It took 10 weeks to hear from him how the surgery went. The important joint alignment, the whole reason for the surgery, ended up somewhat flawed with what a second opinion called a "malalignment."

I was referred to Dr Nickisch after hobbling four months on a misdiagnosed foot injury. He did surgery. I have never met a doctor so kind and caring. I had nine incision points, so complicated but doing very well now.

Dr. Nickisch is an incredibly talented Surgeon -
I shattered my Heel about 3 years ago - it was so bad no one would touch it -
after a week of networking I was referred to Dr. Nickisch
What can I say other than I now do 95 percent of what I've always done 3 years later -
even with a fused Subtaylor joint and about 25 pieces of metal I can run, hike, bike, and even back to racing motorcycles - he and his staff rate high in my book

I had ankle reconstruction with Dr. Nickisch. It was serious problem and he came up with a creative solution that seemed complicated to me. The results, however, were amazing and I was soon pain-free on an ankle that had troubled me for 15 years. I can't say enough good things about him.

Doctor Nickisch is an all around genuine doctor. I have great respect for the work he performed on me.It wasnt a everyday procedure. I am not sure if anyone else could have repaired my foot as good as he did. The surgeon i saw before Nickisch couldn't perform the type of surgery i was in need of, and i was referred to the U of U Orthopedic Center. It was a blessing!! He is my hero. If you are in need of foot/ankle surgeon, Nickisch is the man! He meet all my expectations and more!!!

Dr. Nickisch was the only one that would touch my husbands foot, and was the first to tell us not only what was wrong but how to fix it. He did a total reconstruction and everything is healing so nicely. I know exactly where we'll go from the beginning should our children inherit their dad's feet. Everything about Dr. Nickisch is remarkable from his skill and knowledge right down to his bedside manner.

He was very awesome when he helped my husband and was there to figure out what his problem was. If it had not been for him, I'm not sure he would have every received any help. I hated to see Dr. Nickisch leave Charlotte but also understand he had to do what was best for him. Utah received an excellect doctor in my books. Hope you are enjoying your new adventure in Utah. It took him looking at his xrays to discover that his ankle had been broke at some point in time and did not heal properly causing the bone to die. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Nickisch.
