Dr. Allen is a very caring and knowledgeable physician. In dealing with an orbital mass which caused my eyelid to droop, he corrected this much to my satisfaction. His staff is professional and helps make you, the patient, feel at ease. I would highly recommend him.

It has been my good fortune to have my eyes under the care of Dr. Richard Allen. I have Graves Disease. I truly feel blessed when I was referred to Dr. Allen. We are so very lucky to have him at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He is a compassionate, caring physician with knowledge in his field that appears to be unending. When overwhelmed with the possibility of a serious threat to my vision, Dr. Allen truly saved the day. You will never find a better oculoplastic surgeon. I would travel any distance to have my eye sight under his care.

Dr. Allen is very personable and professional in his manner. After surgery he called my home to see how I was progressing which I appreciated. He is able to answer questions regarding my surgery in a "lay person" approach. I have been very pleased with having my surgery and feel very comfortable with Dr. Allen.

Dr. Allen has been my eye doctor since my eye injury 3 years ago. He is professional, knowledgable and compassionate. He knew how to ease my mind and explained all procedures and what was going on with my eye every time I saw him. Staff fantastic and always just a phone call away. Dr. Allen has helped me and my family through a very difficult time by providing us with in-depth information about what we could expect from my surgery. He is intelligent and efficient. He isn't touchy feely with his patients (most surgeons aren't), but he does excellent work. I am very pleased with my experiences with Dr. Allen and his staff.
