Dr. Kitchens used 1/2” screws on me instead of 1.5” screws knowing that I was fully active. He sent me to rigorous PT 6 weeks after my surgery… by my 3rd week of PT and my next visit to Dr. Kitchens from then out, I kept telling him that I was having increased pain. He brushed it off and recommended continuing PT. I finished PT and felt worse than before the surgery! I told him this repeatedly and explained that I had excruciating pain and even my posture changed to that of being slumped over! He completely changed his persona and told me that I was done with him and he was releasing me back to work. I stood crying in front of his work office and even to the nurse and said that something is definitely wrong. He totally ignored me and had the nurse escort me out. My work comp attorney sent me to pain management and after long trials and numerous interventions, nothing helped. It was 6 months later that I found out that ALL my hardware was loose!!! Dr. Kitchens has repeatedly had these kinds of incidents before according to my work comp attorney and my 2nd surgeon said that Kitchens should have used 1.5” screws KNOWING that I was very active. Not only that, he should have ordered imaging when I kept complaining of increased pain verbally and in writing, but he did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I am messed up for life now thanks to him and the long wait with Covid for my 2nd spinal fusion. I would NEVER, NEVER, recommend him to even my worst enemy. He is considered a “*WH* RE DOCTOR” by 4 attorneys I have spoken to, because he chooses to work for work comp and state that NOTHING is wrong with the patient at any cost!!! BEWARE & PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE HIM WHATSOEVER!!!!

Dr Kitchens performed back surgery on my wife in 2004 and 2013. We were so pleased with the results we have recommended him to 8 friends and family for their procedures. All with great outcomes.

This man saved me & my whole quality of life! He did a lumbar fusion & I was home that same day without pain shooting down my leg. I didn’t need any addicting pain meds post op. I couldn’t believe it!

Dr. Kitchens and his staff were very professional starting with my consultation through my surgery and of course post-op. Dr. Kitchens spent over an hour answering all my questions during my consultation and really made me feel at ease by the time I left. After making the decision to move ahead with the surgery, his staff was great in getting everything scheduled through the Frontenac Spine and Surgery Center due to hospitals being closed for elective surgeries during Covid-19. I had a microdisctomy that went great and feel Dr. Kitchens was a great choice. I’m going on my second week of post surgery and already feel that I’m on the road to having my life back and enjoying my cycling and running again.

My experience with Dr. Kitchen’s and his staff was amazing! Dr. Kitchen’s is very knowledgable and has an amazing bedside manner. He took extra time to answer all of my husbands question. Rick at the front desk is so helpful and also I found his wit to be very refreshing especially in a doctors office.

I am a RN. This man wrote a report to workmans comp as if he saw a healthy person not me. I am thoroughly disappointed in him. He had no other patients in the 1.5hrs I was there, no wonder. I waited 45min for him to review my case in the lobby. He commented on the inability of me to balance, weakness in my right side, my falling, even breaking my arm in 2 places falling. Non of it was in the report. Do not go to him.

This doctor is not worth the time it takes to park and find his 2 room office. I would expect a back exam since that is what I was there for...

We left his office shaking our heads. Told me that a herniated disc didn't require any kind of treatment. He said he didn't know why I have had any treatment at all. When I asked what could be done about the pain in my back and right buttocks and leg, he said, "I don't know." Wow just wow!!
