My teenage granddaughter has had several diagnosis dealing with personality and/or personality disorders. Dr Jules, as he is referred to by her, has medicated this child for several years, adjusting and readjusting her medicines. In the last year, she weaned herself off all meds and her personality blossomed. She was affectionate for the first time in over a year and pleasant to be around. Recently she withdrew from her first semester of community college, during a Covid induced Virtual Learning instead of the classroom experience she expected after failing to complete high school virtually and finally passing GED tests on the first attempt! She also was let go after New Years from a Seasonal Job she had hoped would become a permanent job. Besides being in an on again/off again relationship with a guy, this overwhelmed her & caused some depression, as I believe it would any healthy teenager and some healthy adults. Dr Weiss prescribed medications. I inquired whether he gave her any other instructions or recommendations that might help her feel better. No- just the meds. I am very critical of any doctor that would treat a young person, or anyone, suffering from depression &/or anxiety with just meds. How about a daily regimen of taking care of the body? How about instructing them they MUST have a routine of going to bed at about the same time, limiting screen time before going to bed, getting up at about the same time, doing a morning routine of cleaning the face, body, hair & teeth? How about ensuring the living space is picked up and clear of clutter & how about adhering to a healthy diet and a healthy routine that provides exercise to the body? How about ensuring the people the patient lives with understand the diagnosis and how to help the patient? This doctor only prescribed meds, gave no other instructions or recommendations, and has not communicated in any way with the only person the teen lives with about how to understand and/or help the patient. I cannot see anything but continued need for medicine under this prescription for this patient, as the doctor has not provided any help for the patient to be able to improve her overall behavior. Therefore, I do not recommend this doctor and give him a failing rating.
