As an ICU nurse and nursing supervisor for St. Lukes and Sinai for 25 years, I can say I highly recommend Dr. DeFranco. After a recent health care emergency, we found Dr. DeFranco to be approachable, compassionate and brilliant in his area of expertise-- cardiac medicine. He truly listened and communicated with the patient and our family. Lucky to have him.

I had two other cardiologists who both retired. The nurse on the Aurora referral line said that she was sending me to her cardiologist, Dr. DeFranco. He explained to me that my last stress test had been misinterpreted, that I did not need another heart catheterization, and had one of his colleagues come in and review my case the same day at no charge - and he provided the same opinion. This whole process took a couple of hours but it was worth it since he took the time to get my original pictures. I want a doctor who is going to be conservative and not do unnecessary procedures and who will respect my preferences and who is not afraid of second opinions. I wish I had found him sooner.

I had Dr. DeFranco as my cardiologist from 2014 to 2016. I only left him because we moved across country. He was very reassuring, knowledgeable and so very helpful when all seemed to go wrong. I would recommend him in a heartbeat - no pun intended- to anyone in need of his services. Couldn’t ask for anyone better!

I don't generally like Doctors but this guy is Excellent.
He listens to you and observes, orients himself to you the person, decides, and makes good decisions.

I have been taking my elderly dad to dr defranco for many years after our last doctor moved on. Dr defranco was a name given to us as a good replacement. Dr. Defranco has been a disappointment in the way he communicates or should I say lack of communication skills. He spends his entire appointment with his nose in his computer and will maybe give my dad a few minutes of his time where he actually looks at my dad and asks a question or responds to my dad's question. Dr. Defranco may be a good cardiologist, although I have no reference to support that, but I can say definitely that he is an exceptionally ego driven doctor that has absolutely no communication skills with his patient or the patients family.

I was taken to St Luke with a heart attach and I nearly died. This doctor not only saved my life by putting in 3 stents, the nurses told me my cases was very difficult and that he did an outstanding job. My deepest thanks.

I had a complex valve problem and I went to three other hospitals before I found this doctor. He was the only one who explained things to me in plain english that I could understand. I had the surgery (he didn't do it, but he helped me pick my surgeon). this doctor saved my life. Thanks dr d

Dr. DeFranco probably saved me from a potentially very serious heart attack. His inquisitive style and review caught a problem not seen by my stress test.
