Do NOT go! She is not an OB/Gyn. What happens if there is a complication - maybe a Caesarean section needs to be performed. Maybe the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby’s neck. She is incompetent. Please - go to a real Dr.

I wish my wife and I had checked into April's ratings and background more. She comes across as having the knowledge of an OB/GYN, through her arrogance, but is really a glorified candy striper. I'm sure she aced her class in fake sincerity. DO NOT put your body in her hands. Go to a real MD, that has seen thousands of patients, all types of real world complications. If something goes wrong, which it did, April just flusters and call paramedics, wasting valuable time.

April nearly killed me with my first baby. She ripped the placenta off of the uteran wall by pulling the umbilical cord. Instead of letting the placenta give way with natural contractions, she immediately pulled the umbilical cord seconds after it was cut. She and the charge nurse went into full panic and kicked everyone out. My life was fading away from the intense drop in blood pressure. All I heard was splashes of blood flooding the floor and family gasping as they were rushed out of the room. Jabs of needles were thrust into my thighs to clot the bleeding while April floundered around in my womb trying to find the rip to repair it before I passed away. It was an unbelievable, frightening and horrifying moment for my family. I was so lethargic I didnt even grasp the magnitude of her selfish amd irresponsible behavior. Do not use her, she had lawsuits and she can no longer practice as a doctor because she did this to another mother who almost lost her life after April ripped her placenta away.

Not an OB/GYN, not even an M.D. - what happens if something goes wrong? April trivializes concerns, and has an arrogance that she knows more than OB's that have delivered a lot more babies, and know exactly what to do when something goes wrong. Why take the risk??

April is a certified nurse midwife. As such, she has a lot of experience in hospital settings and with birth complications. Were something to go wrong, I would feel very secure knowing April is there. However I do have some issues with her sending apprentices to the birthing mother. Also she allows her apprentices to do the work whenever possible. This is great training for them, but I paid for April to be there, not a trainee. April is also a little more hands off than some of the other midwives. A lot of home midwives in Las Vegas are a bit like a doula too, but April only comes in for the actual medical needs and doesn't really hold you hand. That's OK, but if you choose April for her clinical expertise, make sure to get a good doula too.

I had my first baby with April and my 2nd with a birth center (only because we had moved and were 13 hours away). After experiencing two different midwives, I realized how much I really loved April! She was so knowledgeable, seemed to understand everything exactly the way I meant it, and I felt very safe in her hands. Now we are moving back to Las Vegas and I am thrilled that I can have April as my midwife again! Certification-wise she is the most qualifies midwife in the valley, which is the reason we went with her in the first place. But there are so many reasons we will go to her for every birth from now on. She is the best!

Me and my husband are trying to conceive but I've always known that a traditional gyno/obgyn was not for me. April did a preconception meeting with and exceeded far past my expectations. Made me feel hopeful, comfortable and overall excited about my future. Hopefully I will be pregnant soon and without a doubt I will have her as a midwife.

April was not what I was expecting. First of all she relied way too much on her (then) uncertified asst, who I would have NEVER chosen to be my midwife. We found out only at 37 weeks that the first call in labor would not be to April but rather to this assistant. I didn't know if this was normal at the time, but since, I've spoken to other midwives and they said that's ridiculous. The nitwit asst couldn't have seemed LESS in the mood to come do her JOB and come to my birth, so she asked to speak to me on the phone in active labor and told me outright how long her drive was and asked if I was absolutely sure she needed to come. Umm.... for $3600, if it was false labor (which it wasn't), she can afford the 35 minute drive. Then she told me it'd probably be a while (encouraging, thanks). Finally, she called april only when I was pushing! My husband overheard April reprimand her for that, but the nitwit even "told" my husband to help April out of her car in the middle of me pushing!
