Dr. Blitman is a good listener. She was patient dealing with a difficult situation with an insurance company. I hear she's very busy and in great demand.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a good psychiatrist in private practice in this city. I contacted Dr. Blitman because she had no waiting list and takes my insurance.. everywhere else, there is a waiting list several months long. I am now going to a clinic.. had to wait, but I'm sure the doctor I see will be a million times more professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Dr. Blitman is rude, demanding, not at all personable, and most of all, completely unprofessional. What's the point of seeing a psychiatrist for anxiety and depression if that psychiatrist is going to get on the phone and yell at you that you about your co-pay and inability to make an appointment, knowing full well your condition and work schedule make those very things difficult for you? It's like I threw money at someone to be rude to me. That's not the kind of psychiatric care I was thinking when I visited. Avoid like the plague, get on a waiting list in Brooklyn for a professional.

Would highly NOT recommend. Rude, impersonal, brash, dismissive. She spent most the time during the sessions interrogating about payment methods, insurance coverage; little to none therapeutic value, and ended up stressing the patient more. Additionally, her office is cluttered with decaying, broken furniture, piles of ancient scattered papers and refuse, and smells of mildew. Simply spending time in the waiting room would be enough to drive most people mad.

She is a very caring psychiatrist. She is smart and has given me good advice. Although she has been impatient at times, the overall picture I have of her is excellent..She listens..She is also a very conscientious doctor.

After seeing Dr. Blitman for more than a decade, I checked out her listing here. Many of the reviews describe someone I don't know. Dr. Blitman was kind to me when I had a loss in my family. She has always taken the time to listen. She takes my preferences into account in prescribing medication. She has never been late and always returns my calls. People I know who have been treated by Dr. Blitman are delighted that such a sensitive and intelligent psychiatrist accepts their insurance when doctors who accept insurance are getting hard to find.

I called to try and make an appointment... she was SO rude on the phone! What a way to make a first impression, I'm definitely NOT going to even try calling again.

THIS SO CALLED MD SHOULD NOT BE IN PRACTICE AS SHE CAUSES MORE DAMAGES WHEN YOU LEAVE HER OFFICE THAN WHEN YOU ENTER UNFORTUNATELY IT TOOK ME ABOUT A YEAR TO REALIZE THIS AS WHEN I WENT TO SEE HER I WAS VERY SICK WITH SEVERE PTSD IT WAS WHEN SHE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD BE HAPPY MY HUSBAND WOULD WANT TO STAY WITH ME I KNEW SHE WAS MISSING SOME MARBLES AS THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH TREATING MY ILLNESS THAT SHE DIAGNOSED AS LAZINESS, I HAD TO SEE SEVERAL DOCTORS AFTER TO UNDO THE DAMAGE SHE DID AND 15 YEARS LATER STILL IN TREATMENT WITH FINALLY AN EXECLLENT DOCTOR AND STILL SUCIDIAL ALOT BASED ON HOW SHE TREATED ME AS SHE WAS THE FIRST DOCTOR I SAW WHEN I HAD MY BREAKDOWN AND AGAIN SHE WAS FOUND IN THE OXFORD BOOK AND CLOSE TO WHERE I USE TO WORK, SHAME SHAME ON YOU BLITMAN YOU DO NOT DESERVE MD WITH YOUR NAME I AM SURE YOU HAVE RUINED MORE LIVES THAN BEFORE THEY STEPPED IN YOUR DOOR HOW YOU SLEEP WELL AT NIGHTS? YOU CANNOT BE SO STUPID TO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR PATIENTS?

i'm sourcing a new psychiatrist and callled her. she was very short with rude undertone on the phone. did not get a good feeling at all. felt a bit grilled with her questions which only sparked distrust. seemed to focus only on how she was getting paid (insurance or not). after telling me in not so friendly tones to follow up with insurance company told me to call next week to see if she had any openings. then quickly asked for my # in case she had a cancellation....i followed my gut and politely declined giving my number. i have hers and have no intention of calling her again. buyer beware....
