I've been treated by a number of shrinks over the last 35 years....I'm on year 10 with Judy. Her style is unlike the others by a far cry. Her manner is on the curt side. You could say she does not suffer fools gladly.
She doesn't get bog down in the pointless nitty gritty.....
(How did that make you feel Dexter when your older sister bit the head off your favorite doll ????) .. LOL.....
She displays very human responses to the situations I bring up once every 3 weeks....She can be a bit impatient and intolerant of me and my mishigas.....Granted, but who gives a shit ?????.... if you're walking out of her little cave dwelling feeling just a scintilla better then when you walked in ?

She put the patient at risk. Taking her to court. Be aware.

I started seeing Dr. Blitman after a hospitalization for medication management and therapy. Dr. Blitman did not have a helpful therapeutic approach and often repeated herself over and over, while forgetting things I had told her just 10 minutes prior. She continued to forget things I had been telling her session to session (about 2 weeks apart). She also encouraged me to send my business clients to her for treatment. I started seeing a clinical psychologist in addition to Dr. Blitman. When Dr. Blitman found out, she encouraged me not to see another therapist. I therefore had to tell her that I was no longer seeing the other therapist in order for her to continue treating me.

Dr. Blitman continuously forgot to write me all of my prescriptions or wrote the wrong year on them. This happened time and time again and she would not cooperate and call the pharmacy when I had these issues.

After a few months, when my insurance had changed from Aetna to United Healthcare, she informed me that she was having trouble with my insurance company and that they were not paying her. I told her I could give her a number that she could call to aid with her claims, but she refused to take the number. Dr. Blitman continued to see me for a few months. One day, she called me and left me an angry voicemail telling me that she was "disturbed" by how I was handling my health insurance situation with her not getting paid. Instead of asking me for help or taking the number I had offered her, she threatened to file a formal complaint about me if I did not pay her all that she was owed by the insurance company. I called United Healthcare and got it sorted out in 10 minutes. I proceeded to end my healthcare relationship with Dr. Blitman immediately.

I write this out of concern for the safety of other patients. Dr. Blitman was kind enough to me, but she had trouble remembering crucial things: like the medication and dosage she prescribed to me at the beginning of an appointment. She also repeated sentences, word for word, within minutes. It felt like she had no recollection of certain details. It got to the point where I had to tell her exactly what medication and dosage I needed, even though this was an area I was trying to change. Ive had substance abuse issues in the past, and I'm concerned for other people like me who can abuse that.

This doctor was the nastiest person I've ever dealt with. Was inconvenienced by the slightest request. Overprescribed medication rather than getting me the correct dosage because it was convenient for her. Mean personality. Filthy office. Would never ever go back.

I was a patient for over 5 years. She is fantastic. Very practical, takes all the time necessary but is not one to dawdle. If you want to go to a psychiatrist to whine and you are an adult saw over 30 she will probably be not for you. If you want to get better,or stable, she can help. If you are high-maintenance and self-dramatizing go elsewhere. I can see how she is not a good fit for adolescents of any age.

Very judgy and rude intially, couldn't even schedule an appointment with her because of her hostile tone. Decided to just go with another doctor because how could I trust someone with my mental health when they speak with such a condescending tone?

Bad with trauma experiences. She can feel judgy. Please be aware. (I.e. asked if I'd ever had assertiveness training, ever thought not to invite a man over unless I wanted intercourse, asked whether I screamed out for help each time I was assaulted).

Seems a bit culturally insensitive too. I'm Mexican American, and she seemed to struggle to relate to my upbringing.

Finally, she told me that she has a hard policy: if you attempt suicide while in her care, she will stop seeing you. She said it's because it means you are not committed to your work with her, or that something isn't working. So, she'll make you find another psychiatrist if you attempt suicide.

Note: this experience is just based on my first visit.

Very intelligent and able to strategize and formulate "game plan" to try and improve one's situation. Very good at bureaucratic type issues. Good listener who is caring and sympathetic to one's difficulties.
