Our son has struggled with anxiety, depression, ADD, and OCD that began after 9/11 happened. We have been to several psychiatrists, therapists, traveled for brain scans, done it all for the past 12 years. During that time we were given every diagnostic "label" and tried many different meds that didn't help much or made things much worse. He had been hospitalized twice. We've only met with Dr. Chung once but it is the first time a psychiatrist really connected with our son and really listened. We're hopeful this will lead to a better quality of life and a long term solution. We were very impressed by him. I've read other comments with negative experiences and unfortunately in the field of mental health, it can be a long path to the right combination of meds and therapy. I personally believe with all our experience with other doctors that Dr Chung has his patient best interests and is skilled in his practice. If our experience changes, we'll post that too.

Dr. Chung switched my 17 year old daughter's medicine to one that is banned for adolescents and kept her on her old medicine at the same time. This caused my daughter to have seretonin syndrome which caused such severe panic attacks that she couldn't stand it anymore. We had her in a 2 week day program so that Dr. Chung could monitor her daily. He didn't see her once! When we tried to report her problems to him we couldn't get a meeting or any communication to him. My daughter ended up hanging herself.

Doctor diagnosed me with Schizophrenia, which was later changed by another doctor to mood disorder. Prescribed Abilify, when had allergic reaction, was not available and then recommended Benadryl for sleeping against manufacturer directions. Then changed medication program to Risperdal, Seroquel (which caused pre-diabetic blood sugar level to rise to 115), and Depakote. Commented that he was trying to get 'titration' right, I'm familiar with titrations from chemistry lab but if you get one drop off it's noted in the notebook. My body is not Chemistry Lab. Went off the meds, finished my degree and doing fine without drugs (unless it's wine you're talking about), and oh yeah grapefruit juice is nice again.
