Dr. Sasso has absolutely no personality at all. BUT, he is considered the best surgeon of his kind in the Midwest, with people coming from all over to see him. He is a fabulous surgeon. So, what do you want-personality or a great surgeon? His nurse, Alta, does all the talking for him, and all the patient/doctor interaction. Been said-by some other doctors, that he is so brilliant that he cannot relate to people, but his work is that of an great artist. I'd never go to anyone else to do surgery on my back.

For starters, you will ALWAYS wait a minimum of 2 hours before being called back.I had been there several times! Dr. Sasso did a spinal fusion on me in '05 b/c of severe lower back pain.Keep in mind that I was 28 yeasr old! Since then I have seen SEVERAL Doctors/Surgeons and without any prompting they have all said that I NEVER should have had this surgery. When you are in pain though you will do anything anybody recommends. I just saw another Dr. yesterday and he said that in his 20 years of practice he has never seen hardware placed so odd. I have 2 screws going through my last vertebrae going into my pelvis. I have 2 Doctors currently working together and their recommendations are to remove the hardware which was prompted originally by my chiropractor of all people. Yes, he is supposed to be on the best in the U.S, but that does not mean every case he takes is going to be done properly. My only suggestion is to get a SECOND opinion and not mention his name to the second opinion Dr.

I had back surgery with Dr Sasso. I had a thoracic disc hernia and he fixed it,however I am now left with a damaged nerve that makes a muscle in my right side contract constantly.I can,t walk or stand or do any thing strenous because it contracts more. Another doctor in this practice said my spinal cord may be damaged because I am losing feeling in my left foot.My right side it totally numb and I will probably remain this way for the rest of my life. Would I recomend surgery? No way!!!!! My surgery was difficult and maybe another doctor would have been better. I'll never know.If you decide to go there be ready for a wait! He schedules patients five minutes apart. It takes a minium of 20 minutes to 30 minutes to see the patient and dictate for the records, so he is behind as soon as he gets there.I waited for four hours after my appt. time on aveerage.sometimes more.

We waited several weeks to get in to see Dr. Sasso. After arriving 30 minutes before our appointment time, we had to wait another three hours before we were able to see him. He gave us five minutes of his time, and did absolutely nothing to assist us, or give us direction in resolving our problem.
