My doctor since 1997. Very sad when she retired. Excellent in every way possible!

Dr. Terkel's retirement has left a hole in San Diego's internal medicine field. As my doctor for more than 20 years, she was perfect, never once failed me; never ordered a test just to cover herself; referred when appropriate. Despite several conditions of mine that perplexed or irritated other doctors, she never shied away and diagnosed so quickly and accurately, I was astonished. She, herself, answered all of my phone calls, gave her home phone number to many of us -- something that shocked other doctors who knew this. Always tactful, never bossy, she just worked with us and for us, especially fighting with insurance companies on our behalf for treatment or prescriptions that had to be preauthorized. Dr. Terkel was different. There were no layers between her and her patients, neither nurses nor bureaucrats. She gave the test results, called us when necessary on a medical matter. She was smart -- and tops.

I've been seeing Dr. Terkel for over 10 years. She listens, explains well and really follows through.

She listens well. The best physician I have ever had and a great diagnostian. This has saved me from tons of tests and money for second opinions.
