I would not recommend this doctor's practice to anyone. They are rude, disrespectful and do not listen to their patients.
The doctor did not even see me during my visit.
Not helpful at all.

The surgery itself wasn't bad. Minimal scarring.
IF YOU HAVE C 1-2 ISSUES AND OCCIPITAL ISSUES DO NOT GO TO HIM. I NOW HAVE BULGING DISCS AND PINCHES NERVES BECAUSE HE DIDN'T LISTEN TO ME AT ALL.
And whomever did my intubation is also to blame.

I EXPLAINED IN DETAIL EXACTLY WHAT FRAGILE NECK AND OCCIPITAL-NEURALGIA IS AND HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS TO BE CAREFUL WITH MY NECK.

1. I warned everyone in pre-surgery and at all appointments of my fragile neck.
2. They could have spray stretched me to avoid what happened
3. Admitted 3 days post op with vomiting blood which was a clot that apparently dissolved itself.
4. They blame severe shoulder pain and inability to move left side on trapped gas from lap surgery without doing a CT of the abdominal cavity to check for that. He GUESSED. then literally dropped me as a patient .
5. Released with some bogus b.s. diagnosis.
6. READMITTED 2 days later in the worst pain ever. Never was trapped gas.
7. He tore my muscles in my back up which caused my fragile neck to pinch no less than 7 nerves.
8. Now 2 surgeries later I've SOD issues added in. Sphincter of oddi. Because the opiods I'm on from him ripping my neck and back up.
9. The gallbladder wasn't even bad when he took it out so I'm going through all this and the gallbladder pain is still there without the gallbladder.
10. Don't go to him if you've any neck issues or clotting issues.
He doesn't understand what clotting issues are and how to avoid return hospital stays.
He's got a 61% return rate after gall surgery because he refuses to LISTEN to the patient.
11. He ruined me and there's nothing I can or will do about it.
But I will say.. DON'T GO TO HIM.

1 wrong move and I'm paralyzed for life from my c1 down.

I won't press charges but he isn't a good surgeon. No surgeon that doesn't care for the neck is.
Permanently damaged.
6 grand for trigger point injections every 2 months for the rest of my life.
Possible Permanent bile damage.

He performed a colonoscopy on me and I can't say enough good things about him. He was very professional and knowledgeable. The conversations I had with him during consultation and before/after procedure were right to the point and clear. I highly recommend him.

Funny looking here every review was for hernia surgery. They told me he didn’t do hernia surgery and I had to go to his partner. Had an appointment with his partner Dr. Maria Castilla for two weeks. Had to schedule to be off by 3:30pm. Got a call three days before they wanted to change my appointment to 2:40pm or reschedule in two weeks. I had to jump through a LOT of hoops to be able to get there by 2:40pm but I did. The day of my appointment I got a call at 12:45pm. They said I had to be there by 1:30pm or we had to reschedule in two weeks. I asked why and the very rude office girl told me Dr. Castilla was a surgeon and does whatever she wants. Now after all that they expect me to reschedule? I am going to find another surgeon. If they treat me like this for an initial consultation imagine how they will be scheduling surgery.

Doctor Guarino was great. I had an inguinal hernia i went to see my doctor at 9am by 10:30am i was in surgery under dr. Guarinos care. The anesthesiologist was a little upsetting the doctors were trying to get me in as quickly as possible and they kept delaying everything, but from what i understand they are a separate company. Dr. Guarino and his staff took very good care of me and my wife. He must of done a very good job recovery was suppose to take weeks its only been 4 days and i feel great. Thank you to doc and his staff!

The absolute best doctor & staff! The doctor and staff skillfully cared for me in spite of the fact that I was uninsured. The hospital refused to schedule my surgery without payment in full up front. Dr. Guarino called the hospital, and straightened that out to where I could make payment arrangements. I have nothing but the best things to say about him and his staff. He also came highly recommended by a friend who is a cancer survivor. This doctor and staff, is very caring and very skilled!
